House of the Dragon : Poll: Which is better? GOT vs. HotD

I feel like House is a better written show, and contains basically no filler material. Everything shown is relevant to the story. On the other hand, GOT had some filler, and may have gone off the rails on a few storylines, having no real direction from GRRM on how to proceed once the source material was exhausted. This isn't a problem for HotD, as GRRM is heavily involved, and the source material was completed in just one book.

At this point, I still prefer GOT over HotD, but I do feel overall it's the better show and has the potential to surpass GOT in the wars to come. The writing is just really excellent, and all the actors are great, excepting the Strong boys.

GOT is a million times better IMO. The stories is far more entertaining, and the characters are VERY appealing. HotD is dark, dank in atmosphere and boring. The characters are not appealing in the least. I was extremely disappointed with it. I STILL go back to rewatch GOT. Not so with HotD.

Wait for it… it's going to get MUCH better by the time you watch the finale.

And by then all the pieces will be in place for the second season to be even better. I hear there are meant to be 20 major battles during the Dance of the Dragons.

This is a unfair comparison in many ways given the far superior budget of HOTD… despite this and HOTD being an overall tighter production, GOT s1-4 was so near perfect. Both shows have the same magic to them that pull you in to their universe.

I think GOT is better as of now. I think that could very well change as the politics and human struggle that is the focus of Dragon is what I preferred to the fantasy elements of Thrones. But I want it to play out further before deciding one if definitively better.

the scope and story of GoT is far more interesting just bc there’s so much more to it, but HotD has better writing, casting, direction etc

i’ve read a bit of the book and these showrunners did a hell of a job adapting it. can’t really think of anything i don’t like about it apart from those godawful wigs

i would still vote for GoT but i wish these showrunners were behind the OG series. or at least the last few seasons of it

Too hard to call for me. HotD has more dragons and use of 2 of my all-time top 5 actors so it's flirting with my vote based on that. But the first season of GoT blew me away so hard it made me start liking a genre I previously avoided.
