1) Iron Fist/Danny Rand was never Asian. He is an American child raised among the Asians, and is supposed to be an outsider to his own culture. That's the charm of the character.


2) Colleen Wing is Asian. That's fair representation.


We don't need both leads of the series to be Asian.

His mannerisms make him an outsider. The trailer demonstrated that he is going to have trouble acclimating to his own world, after being raised in a foreign one.


It's too soon to say whether Wing will be a sidekick. She's certainly his love interest. But she may also be a mentor figure. She's more of the 'Black Canary' of these series.


Also, we just had a Netflix series with a female protagonist, and a black protagonist You can't accuse Marvel netflix of White-washing.

I can turn on any of the big 4 stations and see White men bedding Asian women, Indian women, Black women, Latina women, and of course, White women.

That said there is a considerable lack of Asian men being shown as sexual beings on television. I watch a lot of television. I don't remember seeing an Asian man presented as an object of desire. Crazy-ex-girlfriend and kind of Lost. Kim of ST:Voyager rarely had a love interest.

Bottom line is Danny Rand is a White character in the source material.

Fans and Audiences of genre properties tend to react badly when the race of a character is changed.


It would be a pointless and poor business decision to change Danny Rand's race.

Marvel had no problem donning Luke Cage in hoodies and infest the show with rap music. And have him the protagonist be an ex-convict.

She was connective towards Flash and maybe LOT (though Oliver is moreso).

No connection to Supergirl however.


I remember Berlanti talking big about a character crossing among all his DC shows and being a linking character, though that plan seems to have been abandoned.

She serves a similar purpose, but Claire has been received far better than the controversial Felicity.

Arrow's sinking ratings after two abysmal Felicity-focused seasons is evidence enough that audiences got sick of the character.


Being delusional is to deny that Felicity is a controversial character that has caused a lot of divisiveness among the audience and fanbase.

Any Arrow board, social media page or discussion forum has as many fans that dislike the character compared to those who worship it.

Go to any online discussion forum, social media however, and you'll see significant dislike towards the Felicity character and her role in Season 3/4 being received so poorly.

Even after Olicity broke up, the remaining episodes still featured Felicity-heavy plots and characterization. The ratings variance among the eps was marginal. It was a show and gradual decline, but a decline nevertheless.



If there is no controversy, why is Amell's FB page and other high-traffic social media pages for Arrow loaded with arguments against Felicity/Olicity, with equal support on both sides.

I can't speak for IMDB or Reedit, but the Facebook pages link to legit profiles of actual people.

And there are significant debates on all the prominent Arrow social media over the controversial Felicity character.

Also I follow Stephen on facebook but I hardly use facebook I bet 5mil+ people find comment regularly

So.. a mix of Batman Begins, first season of Arrow and first season of Daredevil? Doesn't sound so bad but so didn't Luke Cage and that had a great start but ended off pretty weak with a boring fist fight that had far too much talking involved.

My knowledge of Iron Fist only goes as far as Spectacular Spider-Man cartoons and I liked the character. It looks cool, though, and YAY CLAIRE!!!!
