NCIS : Laters

Laters

I started watching NCIS on USA during re-run marathons. I eventually went to Netflix and caught up by watching every episode in order. During that time I began posting on this board. It was awesome, at first, finding a community of others who shared my affection for a group of fictional characters. However, when I completed season six and made the cardinal error of not hating Ziva I found myself essentially black-balled by the core force of this board. It's a whatever, I come on now and then to offer a thought or just to read along but I don't enjoy the dog pile of vitriol that comes along with stating an opinion that is not among those approved by the board bullies. That being said, best of luck to one and all. I have zero intention of following you to a new site and I still have fond memories of when I was a new fan and discovering the fun of NCIS. I can't help but notice that the board bullies are much like the liberal loudmouths on TV protesting anything and everything that is even remotely related to the POTUS. Here's some unsolicited advice: stop it. It's not attractive, it's not American. Different opinions should be embraced and celebrated, not berated and censored. That's not at all what tolerance is. Au revoir.

Re: Laters

Your post was either very brave or very stupid.

I'm voting for self-centered and self aggrandizing.

The board closes in a week, so you decided to come and post a holier-than-thou farewell to people you dislike.

Yeah, laters.

Re: Laters

Well, as I recall, Mia considers anyone expressing a different opinion than hers is a bully.

Re: Laters

Quite the opposite. I celebrate and encourage different opinions. The bullying comes into play when someone expresses and opinion and then others dog pile on to tell the poster how wrong he or she is.

Re: Laters

You've illustrated my point perfectly.

Re: Laters

Mia, it takes two people to tango, make a relationship and have an argument. Both sides of an argument have something at stake, both have a point, and both have to take a piece of the blame. I rather think you've illustrated your immaturity.

But if you hope to continue to communicate with people, via other forums or even in person, then I wish you luck. As you communicate now, you sound like a petulant 13 year old.

I do sorta remember your discordant conversations with some posters here. It wasn't pretty.no, it was cringeworthy. I've done that before, and I can't understand what I was thinking, or how I got sucked into something so ugly. It happens, and one moves on. Your entire OP is a big neon sign showing that you haven't moved on. Instead of making a snappy comeback, perhaps it would behoove you to consider just why that is..

No, just honest. I have no agenda.

Re: Laters

Ziva was my favorite character, NCIS is a dirty job hunting down killers and terrorists, they needed a tough fighting machine for a field agent, so they replaced her with a high school cheerleader, smart move, for me the show went down hill after that, I got put on ignore for saying things like that. but it's over now, and I understand you wanting to get that off your chest, so to speak.

so long, it's been good to know ya

Re: Laters

Agree, I still watch every week but it's just not the same. I don't mind Bishop or even the new agents but the passion is gone without Ziva and especially now without Tony. I like to believe that she's not really dead and that she and Tony are reunited in Paris raising Tali together. :-)

Re: Laters

I agree as well Mia. I also enjoyed Ziva's character. I know exactly what you mean by posters on this board "dog piling" on you because you express an opinion that's not in agreement with certain cliquish team members on this board. It happened to me too because I just couldn't bring myself to "hate" Ziva. Doesn't matter if everything they said about her was true or not, I simply enjoyed the character.

But I've been on this board for many years, and you should know that it isn't a new thing. It's pretty much always been like that from the start. Before the sixth season and Ziva'a unforgivable sin of hurting "poor widow Tony" in Aliyah, it was constant friction between Tony and Tim fans. You were not allowed to favor Tim over their "idol" Tony. I could tell you of so many posters who were "run right off" this board simply for not placing Tony on a pedestal. It just got much worse after the "hate Ziva"/6th season began.

I'm not sure if it's human nature or what, but I know it takes a very mature person to be able to discuss all aspects of a show without being offended by those who see it differently. The Criminal Minds board is probably the most informative with the posters being the most mature and congenial I've encountered on IMDb.

Lately it's the "negativity" about the show that really bothers me the most because I still enjoy it and want to talk about it with others who do too. I mean I don't mind people complaining about certain parts they didn't much like. But some people complain all the time, about everything. I also don't care for all the threads and subjects that have nothing to do with the show.

So like you, I won't much miss this board either. I never did quite fit into that "little clique" of theirs and I'm pretty OK with that. I have a real life with real friends. So while I appreciate those who were friendly, congenial and pleasant to talk toI won't miss this IMDb board.

Perfectly summarized, thank you! :-)

@ OutlawMia

me? projecting?
me? with a chip on my shoulder?
I - don't - think - so!

I'm not the one who started this thread whining, and pissin' 'n' moanin' about how awful you were treated by "board bullies" because you loved Ziva
(btw, I never put you down for being a fan of -girl; I could care less if you - or anyone else - were crazy for her!)

then you proceed to write (in a most charming way) that you aren't going to follow anyone to other sites
NEWS FLASH! nobody will care!
you and your cr@p attitude will not be missed!

sorry, sam, "chip on shoulder" applies perfectly to the OP's thread!

this definition, from Wiki:

Chip on shoulder

To have a chip on one's shoulder refers to the act of holding a grudge or grievance that readily provokes disputation

if that doesn't describe the OutlawMia, then I'm an oil rich princess!

Re: Laters

My experience was not like yours - I never disliked Ziva, although near the end I did not care for how they wrote the character. I never disliked Tony either but he was not my favorite, I would say that in the early seasons I favored Tim more although once again as the seasons went I had problems with how both were written (Tony being dumbed down and Tim being snarky whiny). But I never felt piled upon or ostracized. I basically came on and read the posts and stated my opinion, I did not care if others did not share it or try to convince anyone to change their minds. Others have had totallt different ideas then me but that is how they interpreted it. I have not posted much recently because I am usually not current on episodes and although I enjoy the show still it is not as crisp to me as it once was.

Re: Laters

yeah, even though Ziva was my favorite, I didn't like the way she was written in the later episodes.
