Politics : The 3 types of conservative.

First there is the most common and the worst of the bunch, religious conservatives. These guys will often mock atheists for not believing in their bullshit fairytales. Worse than that they then have the audacity to say they believe in facts over feelings {cough}Ben Shapiro{cough}. They couldn't prove any religion right to save their lives and oh have they tried, yet they still think atheists are the stupid ones. Yeah right!

The next is not quite as bad but still kind of ****ty. The conservative apologist, who is either atheist or agnostic but bows down and kisses religion's arse, often saying things along the lines of "we still need religion in the world for a healthy functioning society." Then why the **** are you an atheist then, self loathing twat? Hell all you've got to do is put blind faith into some bullshit.

The next is the best. A conservative who doesn't bow down to any religion, goes all out and says "**** them all." These are the kinds of cons I can actually get behind and like. They still believe in free speech, capitalism, logic over feelings but just don't get behind that fairytale crap.

Now I can understand that religion is a source of comfort for many people and I respect that. I know it can make losing a loved one much less hopeless and nihilistic, believing that they've moved into the afterlife and that you will meet them again. That is a nice thing and I would like it to be true.

I just can't stand the "holier than thou" attitude religious folk who are most often conservative have towards atheists. If I have come across as condescending it's because they are condescending toward atheists. And I'm not saying all atheists are perfect people. There are many that are just as bad, like me you might say lol.

according to the catholic church if you aren't baptized you can't enter heaver but are destined for (a catholic construct) limbo. but for god's devine mercy and intervention possibly any soul who died without being baptized can hope god shows them mercy.

The second kind may recognize that religion serves a purpose beyond giving false comfort to the grieving. It provides a community where otherwise people are atomized and an impersonal government tries to take on the church's roles. Government will be better at distributing money but curbing bad behavior by counseling and shaming is going to be more effective when people you know from a community you belong to are doing it. A church can also give people peer groups that provide better examples to emulate than they might find in schools or elsewhere. When churches go away nothing replaces those functions.

I agree with all of this except about government being better at distributing money. The government is absolutely horrible at this.
