Smile : Woke casting. Why did Rose have to have a black fiance?

He wasn't even in it that much, so he could have just have easily been more believably white. This is enforced Hollywarped wokeness at its most brazen and it is getting worse. It made me dislike the film even more.

I found Smile too try hard intense for its own good and the slow burn aspect of it was boring, not compelling.

I didn't see an agenda. Just an accurate representation of some relationships. Black men do date and marry white women. It's as normal as a white couple or a black couple. So it's ok to depict it in a movie just because.

Why white then? The black actor did just fine. No need to change his skin color.

And I have to disagree about the character. It was a very pivotal role. It added to Rose's trauma and isolation. That the man who loved her wouldn't believe what she was going through. It gave the entity more power.

It's ok if there are black and white couples in movies. It literally won't hurt anyone.

it didn’t bother me in this movie because it’s a representation of current times. what does bother me is forced representation that is at odds with the times. take the new miniseries based on dickinson’s great expectations. Estella is played by a black woman which is at odds with the times the story takes place. I don’t like and find it fake that historical or period movies incorrectly cast the wrong types for the times.

speaking to the movie smile, it was better than I thought it would be. i liked it.
