Lisa Gay Hamilton : nine lives

nine lives

Incredible. If you have been a victim of sexual abuse her character is overwhelmingly real. I knew very early why she was there and what her character plans were. Her playful way to remember a better childhood and gut wrenching truth was painful for me to watch, but I did tearfully. When she went to the door of her old bedroom yet could not enter, she really hit a homerun. The anxiety building to the final moment was realistic and heart felt. I can appreciate when someone understands a victim of abuse and can betray the horror that it leaves in its wake of a persons life. Lisa Gay Hamilton you did an Incredible job, thanks for a voice.

Re: nine lives

I thought she did good, but overacted it a bit at times.

Re: nine lives

Wow I saw her in Nine Lives and was blown away! She didn't overact at all in fact she was so believable you could see and feel the pain she was in. It's also hard to believe she's in her 40's now because in Nine Lives she looks like a teenager so this chick must have located the fountain of youth.

Re: nine lives

She definitely tore this role up; short, sweet and powerful! However, I was most impressed with her comments to young actors/actresses in the special features sections of the DVD. She explained some universal lessons about life and getting to know yourself, that apply to almost everyone not just actors/actresses. I found myself nodding my head in agreement with some things I have been thinking for awhile and learning new things too.

She was incredibly powerful and her performance was captivating. She basically owned the movie.

Re: nine lives

It's always thrilling, somehow, to find a great new (to me) actor! I watched her scenes in Nine Lives several times, so remarkable and true to life was her acting. She is a very rare one, up there in my pantheon, with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Holly Hunter and a very few others i can't think of right now!
I would like to add, though, that the acting in that film uniformly impressed me. The film is a real gem.

Re: nine lives

Her role in Nine Lives literally gave me chills. The two sisters singing the song together, and the line " we are made of bones and dreams". Just wow.

Re: nine lives

She totally blew me away! I thought her performance was the best in a film with nothing but incredible work.
