Even if small (almost nothing) it has still gone up during that period and it is normal no real innovation comparable to coal power/steam, workchain, gazoline, electrification that made the progress of the past happen.
Also people would make a mistake to compare the USA the decades after WW2 when it was the only developed country that is manufacturing capability was not literally destructed and gone by bombing, it's advantage over the competition at the point will never be repeated.
Anyhow, no stats show a down spiral that I know of, even adjusted for inflation real wage.
