2001 is another stunning achievement and yet Tarantino is acting like Jaws was something special that came along like none other gone before it.

Heck, I think Polanski's Rosemary's Baby is direction perfection. Spielberg is a superb director, but he doesn't hold the torch over others. He learned and emulated other great directors before him and fine tuned himself into his own representation.

I like both of those very much, but I still don't think either of them are the greatest movie ever made. I think The Matrix (the first one) is pretty damn good too. Some people think Gone With the Wind is tops, but I hate that film. It's simply a matter of personal preference, isn't it?

You may not like it. It's a slow burn, but if you just sit back and enjoy the ride it's more than just a movie, it's an experience. The soundtrack is out of this world too.

Tarantino is just as smug as you at any rate. He's looking for absolutes. Here he claims The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is his favorite film of all time and in other readings, he is quoted as saying it is the greatest thing ever made. Now he claims Jaws is.

He has said numerous times "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" is the greatest film ever made and is his favourite film of all time, he has said that hundreds of times and each decade when sight and sound asks directors to give in their top 10 he always has the good, the bad and the ugly at number 1 and Jaws isn't in his top 10.
