My 600-lb Life : Erica and food delivery….

Erica and food delivery….

So she's not happy with her sister getting rid of all that junk food (that she was told to cut out by Dr. Now!!) and says "then I discovered food delivery and just got whatever I want". Is she a complete moron??? Same thing when she had the nutritionist come over - it's like she's personally offended that people are taking away the stuff that's killing her!!
This is driving me crazy right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and now she emotionally blackmails her brother..

Re: Erica and food delivery….

You could phone the food delivery places and tell them that the person has a life or death health condition and they shouldn't deliver food to that address. If they did, you could sue them.

Lots of businesses from casinos to the Home Shopping Network have lists of people banned by caring relatives.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

The amount of websites one could order food from is nearly infinite.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Seriously? People can just call places and tell them not to deliver food somewhere? Never heard of that. What authority do the people calling and saying don't deliver food have? Unless it was a minor or a dependent, I don't see how that would be legal itself to do that. Why would a food place obey some stranger on the phone?

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Sue them? Lol, you must be joking. You have to have tangible damages for a lawsuit.

And I don't know about where you live, but I can download 15 apps now for food, grocery and take out delivery. You wouldn't have authority to call any of them if I was your sister and say "don't deliver to her or I'll sue you."

Re: Erica and food delivery….

It's like with drugs, if someone really wants something, they will always find ways of getting it! That's why a person really has to be in it 100% if they want to quit an addiction or else it's not going to work

Re: Erica and food delivery….

and when she reached her final destitation, she said "I dont even know what my address is", sure she wanted to call for food delivery.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Most of them live in small towns. There aren't going to be that many delivery markets. If you notified UPS and FedEx that you were refusing all deliveries, they would strip sending them. And yes you could sue for wrongful death if a vendor ignored instuctuons and brought poison. You could likely seek millions in punitive damages to send a message to the grocery industry that they cannot kill people for profit.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

It's food, not poison. It's not dominos fault that these people eat 3 whole pizzas instead of just two or three slices. Dominoes has the legal right to sell and deliver their pizza.

Wrongful death lawsuits require more than "they delivered food to this morbidly obese person who's been morbidly obese for 20 years and has a litany of health issues, but yea, this one pizza you delivered last Tuesday killed them alone. If they didn't deliver these pizzas then he wouldn't have died from diabetes or a coronary." By your theory EVERY family member of an alcoholic could sue every liquor and beer company in the world. There would be successful lawsuits left and right if that was legit. Here's the loophole to your claim of punitive damages, you have to prove that food right there they delivered killed them. The health related issues to obesity killed them, not the Chinese food or pizza. Then you have to try and prove that that company ALONE caused the person to die from their product. The companies attorneys just destroyed your case right there with your lack of proof. Their food alone didn't kill the person, they actually died from obesity related health issues which is a combined issue of diet, lack of exorcise and other issues.

And you cannot just contact UPS and FedEx to stop deliveries are a residence that isn't yours. You have no legal right to stop someone else's mail and packages.

Wrong. I've been arguing with UPS for over a year. They keep delivering a package to my house for someone else. Wrong namecorrect address. Every time I talk to them and say I do not want to accept or have packages dropped off for this person any more they say they can't do anything about it and I have to call this special number for pick ups and they come back the next day to pick it up.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Dottie was ordering three pizzas at a time along with brownies. If Dominoes had.been alerted to not deliver to this address because the person had morbid obesity and yet they continued to deliver and Dottie was found dead on the floor with a slice in her hands, I think her orphaned children would be entitled to a very generous settlement from Dominoes.

Dominoes used to offer a guarantee that the pizza would arrive in 30 minutes or it was free. The family of a person killed by the speeding Dominoes driver collected millions.

Food companies have a responsibility to create a safe product and deliver it in a safe manner. If they are ignoring food safety or delivery safety in an attempt to maximize profits, they are liable.

Suits have been brought against McDonalds and others for causing obesity, which is a drain on health resources. Eventually these suits will prevail because the health costs and lost wages and early deaths cannot be balanced out by the profit motive.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Warm, you think like a litigious American.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

AntwoinD, I think I'd have to agree with you. Litigation isn't as easy as it sounds.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Yea, she has a very childish view of lawsuits. She honestly thinks they are on the hook for millions of dollars in damages and thinks she can tell delivery companies and fed ex/ups to stop delivering to other people's homes. Life doesn't work like that.

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Erica could sue Domino's (or wherever) for discrimination if they refused to deliver to her, now THAT lawsuit might actually have legs!

Re: Erica and food delivery….

Oh god, you're not wrong, I could see it now.
