My 600-lb Life : None of these people work
Re: None of these people work
James (season 2), accountant(?).
Nikki (season 4), costume stylist.
There was one guy (Randy?) who works in his father's hardware(?) shop.
Ashley R. (second ep of the current season), customer service.
Cynthia (3rd ep), special education teacher.
These are just the ones I can (kind of) name off the top of my head.

Re: None of these people work
OK, thanks. I haven't been watching that long so glad to hear that it's not the case.
Re: None of these people work
Susan before you make statements like that you need to check the facts.
Re: None of these people work
Just what does Cynthia, special education teacher. Teach to the kids, how to stuff two pizza's into her gullet at once?
Re: None of these people work
A beautiful example of why the message boards are being disabled. Thank you.

Party pooper!!!
Re: None of these people work
What I'm always curious about is those who are on disability because they had to have been at a lower weight to get around to doctor appointments or disability hearings, all those things they require you to do to get benefits.
I'm sure most of them put on a lot of the weight after they got approved. If that's the case wouldn't Social Security then say "Sorry, you were mobile enough to get to doctor appointments and make it to a hearing, so you are not disabled. CLAIM DENIED." That's usually what they do so I always wonder how did they get approved to begin with. I don't think it would be for mental illness because most of them said they've never been to a therapist before the one Dr. Now sent them to.

I would think that has to be the case. The majority have a hard time even getting out of bed, much less getting to a job every day.
Re: None of these people work
Still it pisses me off some of these people are so fat they are on disability. There is no reason for it. If they lost weight and took care of themselves they could enter the work force. The food these people eat is so expensive and many of them have newer cars. I don't get how they afford them.

I think Erica was saying something about having enough food to feed a family of four for a month or two, but she didn't explain who paid for all of that.
Some of them don't work even after they lose the weight and others were working even when they were obese. Ashley R was and from last season Chay/Lola = Chayla, was a caregiver for her grandmother and then after the surgery she got a job at a fast food joint of all places.

No. That's not the case at all. In fact, a great many people who are on disability go to the doctor's on a regular basis. Just because you are mobile enough to go to a doctor's appointment doesn't mean you have the ability to work on a regular basis, or even part time.
Time wounds all heels.

I was only relating this to my own experience because that's what happened to me. I worked in commercial housekeeping for many years, now have bad knees and back. SS did send me to one of their doctors (I do have my own doctors) but my claim was denied saying that it appears to them that I can get on and off an exam table therefore I'm not disabled. I've been denied three times even after a hearing with a judge.
Also, I'm 56 (I applied two years ago) and still got denied even though they try to make it seem like if you're older than 50 you will get approved faster and easier. Not true. I've posted comments on YouTube and other forums not to believe that because I'm living proof that isn't always true. Someone referred to it as the "death stall," that they are hoping you will either give up or die so they don't have to give you anything and it's a win, win for them. I don't doubt that for a second.
Re: None of these people work
But They Seem To Have Plenty Of Money For Pizza Delivery, McDonalds, Burger King, And Tons Of Junk Food, Smh !!!
Re: None of these people work
Something I've wondered about is they always live in nice apartments like Erica even though they don't work. You never see them living in dangerous public housing with shootings and murders like you would think they would for welfare recipients.
Re: None of these people work
They all live in trailers, what "nice" apartments? The ones they live in in Houston are paid for by the show, and never look nice to me.
Re: None of these people work
Maybe all the ones that lived in dangerous public housing situations have been shot and murdered, so there isn't anyone available.
Re: None of these people work
LOL, yes, maybe so. I just thought that though, because I had a friend of a friend who was receiving SSI benefits and she was saying how she once lived in public housing full of crime and crack. She later managed to get on a list for housing for the elderly and disabled which was much nicer.
Re: None of these people work
Thanks for "getting" my dark humor and not telling me what a horrible person I am for making that joke. Yes, hopefully there are better situations for the disabled and elderly than regular public housing.
