They never learned to separate their emotion from their logical thoughts. To an extent this is a good thing, it means they feel strongly about the cause attached to an opinion. But when it becomes the default reaction to people disagreeing, it usually means the excitable party just doesn’t have experience with critically evaluating a position.

Also I think people feel their self worth is tied to their opinions
