George C. Scott : If ever there was a greatest American actor…

If ever there was a greatest American actor…

I'd say it was George C. Scott. I thought he was pitch-perfect in every role he played. On top of that he could act the same emotion in countless different ways. I don't know any other american actor whose performances were as accomplished and free of repetition as his were.

Well said.

Very few actors have the ability to burn an impression upon a person like GCS. Brando, Hackman, Eastwood, Hopper & Nicholson are just a few more.

My faves of his: Patton, Petulia, The Hospital & Christmas Carol, but I will watch pretty much anything he is in.

I saw The Hustler for the first time recently and was especially impressed by his performance. I wouldn't be surprised if DeNiro was a fan of his, I could really see shades of his acting style in there.
