Generally, we know that men can beat up women. Alex (as the antagonist) does not have any physical advantage over the protagonist Dan in any way. Basically, when Alex does bad things, Dan gets to beat her up and she cannot physically fight him back.
The point the movie is making is that you don't have to be violent to hurt people. Both Dan and Alex hurt each other through non-violrnt means. The fact that a man will win a physical confrontation with a woman means that a female will use other means to inflict pain on her male enemy. Often, this hurts the man more. More even than death.
"Fatal Attraction" is a spellbinding psychological thriller that could have been a great movie if the filmmakers had not thrown character and plausibility to the winds in the last minutes to give us their version of a grown-up "Friday the 13th."
The world would be a much better place if all child abductors did was take random kids to amusement parks and feed them and then drop them off back at home unscathed.
He can't be that retarded!
If Alex had been caught when she brought Ellen home, (which is the biggest flaw in the film to me, because she just dropped her off at the top of her driveway after she was already alerted missing), Alex would have been arrested, locked up and very likely denied bail for this serious crime.
You have a distorted sense of perception and consequence. It does matter what they do, or where they take them, as it comes down to the "abduction" aspect and the rest is built around that.
I think you're inferring something different here. There are different levels of "evil." It always seems to be controversial when someone points out the evil a character won't resort to, as if this is somehow excusing the evil they did do, but it doesn't.
Compare to Alex, who (outside of the rabbit) murdered no one. Outside of being a clingy, deluded, lonely, wound self-inflicting, overly emotional, irrational, obsessive stalker, her big crimes were kidnapping, trespassing, and animal cruelty.
The world would be an even better place if people didn't abduct children at all.
