"Did you make coffee...? Make it!"--Cheyenne.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

Only 5'3, but one of the biggest Hollywood giants of all time.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

That reminds me of the classic Twilight Zone he did where he wanted to be a 'big man' and got his wish.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

"Giants Can't Be Jockeys." One of the classics. In true Twilight Zone tradition, it taught you to be careful what you wish for. I still get chills when I see that end scene.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

RIP Mickey!

"I know of a haunted cave near here. We'll wait there..."

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

What more could I add to a man who has in total (here on IMDb and in his career) 653 credits to his name? As well as many Broadway stage credits I'm sure.

From his start as a child actor in silent films & early talkies,to a
#1 box office draw as a teen song & dance star, alongside Judy Garland.

Through a time of non-acceptance,as an adult when he tried to turn to more mature dramatic roles but...he eventually won out. As well as being a fine comedic actor as well. He shows incredible dramatic flair in "Captain's Corageous","Boys Town" and 1959's "The Last Mile".

Placing aside a bout with alcohol, substances and depression,Mickey Rooney is a great example of the term "driven" and more simply, someone who loved what he did and basically fought to keep himself working in show business.

Unlike some of today's stars/celebrities,Mr. Rooney is someone to admire for all of these things. Whatever troubles he had,he overcame. Not just on his own because I'm sure he had family and friends who stood by him.

The first I kinew of him was as the vice of Santa Claus in the holiday classic," Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town",Disney's "Pete's Dragon" and later "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World".

I've seen him in many things since. The last thing I watched with Mickey was my copy of "The Black Stallion". One of his best roles, which I wished I'd seen in the movies in 1979.

So,from "Not to Be Trusted" 1(1926) to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (filming) 2014,Mickey Rooney has pretty much done it all in show business.

If any scene defines thar drive & determination of Mr. Rooney's career,
it's that scene from "Babes In Arms",when Andy & the people of Carvel sing and march through the street. They're going to make things work out right in the end.

Rest In Peace,Mickey Rooney, there'll certainly never be another like you.

Love rules & hate's for fools.

Thank you for the many, many years of wonderful, wonderful memories, Mr. Rooney which will continue forever and forever.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

Today is April 4th. Someone please explain to me how his date of death is three days away????

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

... date of death is three days away????
I have a hunch you saw it here first: http://en.necropedia.org/obituary/r. Necropedia is pretty much a failed website that posts obituaries in advance for journalists. There isn't much there worth using.

UPDATE: A more likely explanation is that you are running a month behind. Mickey 1354 died 04/06/14 per IMDb.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

How great he had a cameo in The Muppets' "Life's A Happy Song." :-)

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

Goodbye Mickey. Your Andy Hardy movies are still tops with me. Movies these days seen t 5b4 o me to be little more than special effects with 5 second cuts starring actors who don't memorize more than 3 seconds of dialog. Like many stars (and nobodys like me) you had a complicated life and did some things I'm sure your must have later regretted. But what a talent! Ditto for your friend, Judy Garland. If there's a heaven I'm sure you two are dancing.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

I love the Andy Hardy movies.

Very good. But brick not hit back!

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

The Andy Hardy films are a cinematic treasure. Hollywood's crown jewels.

Re: RIP To One Of Hollywood's Greatest Legends

...And one of God's gifts to the world. Mickey Rooney brought joy and fun to my life as he did for countless millions during his nine decades in entertainment. I will always be grateful to him for that.
