Jason Robards : He should have won another OSCAR for 'Magnolia' (SPOILER ALERT)

He should have won another OSCAR for 'Magnolia' (SPOILER ALERT)

In his role of 'Big' Earl Partridge in P.T. Anderson's epic of the human heart, 'Magnolia,' Mr. Robards was robbed of a truly deserved Oscar as Best Supporting Actor.

I have never before or since seen such a perfect performance of a man facing the final moments and realizations of 16d0 a life of vanity and corrupted loves. For it is only now that he is hearing the chorus of penalties of his train-wreck of a soul ...

There is though, one thing that I always wanted to see in that final scene with his estranged son 'Jack' -- now known as 'Frank T.J. Mackey' (brilliantly portrayed by Tom Cruise) ... I wanted Earl -- (as the maelstrom of hundreds of thousands of frogs are falling on the house and area) to open his eyes -- and for he and Frank to share the moment ... no words spoken.

And when the last of the frogs hit the earth -- Big Earl Partridge passed onto the forevers.

In any event -- Jason Robards richly deserved a 3rd Oscar!

I honestly expected him and Cruise to get a supporting actor nod. EB Films recently reminded me of this snub and decided to some to his board.

It is very odd that he didn't even recieve a nomination.

Nah…

Cruise, Macy, and Hall were better.
