Food and Drink : Restaurant bans customers with visible tattoos because they're "intimidating"

A restaurant has banned customers with tattoos, “heavy” jewelry and designer clothes.

The controversial dress code was introduced in a bid to stop customers from “intimidating” others.

A note in front of the popular Bedouin restaurant in Double Bay, Sydney informs its guests of the new rules.

According to the new house policy, customers cannot have “visible tattoos,” wear “heavy jewelry” or “designer-labeled apparel”.

The eatery’s co-licensee Poata Okeroa told The Daily Telegraph: “We value our customers and community stakeholders, and have always implemented house rules that include a dress policy that discourages intimidating appearances.

Last year an iconic London restaurant banned single-sex groups of more than six as well as tracksuits and sneakers.

Langan’s Brasserie in the West End said the rules were enforced in a bid to stop hen and stag parties.

Previously another restaurant was branded “racist” after banning baggy clothing, beanie hats and “sunglasses after dark”.

😂 especially the last one. But that brings up an interesting subject - what if the restaurant owners/employees have relatives with visible tattoos? They'd really keep them out of the restaurant?

Wear long sleeves, pants, gloves and if it is a face tat then a hat and mask!

What if someone covers their tats with makeup and they're let in, but the makeup starts to come off while they're in the restaurant?

What if it's a tattoo like a Star of David or a crucifix, and the person is told, "You can't come in here because of that tattoo"? The restaurant owners could be opening themselves up to a lawsuit, because the people could say they weren't let in because of their religion.

Do you tend to overthink or analyze things like this when you are not on the boards?

Like I sometimes do?
