Greg Kinnear : Greg deserves the Oscar

Greg deserves the Oscar

Just saw the hilarious "Sunshine" in Melbourne AUS at the Palace George cinema, St Kilda. The entire cast is excellent, but the best scene is when Greg is interviewed by the traffic cop and deadpans when the gay mag is shown.
Magnificent work, brilliant comic timing from the very start, Greg is on song from the opening scene when speaking at the underpopulated seminar.
I would also like to apologise for a Melbourne radio host Richard Stubbs who interviewed Greg and failed to mention his brilliant performance in Auto-Focus. I wrote a letter expressing concerns to ABC radio management about the abysmal interview.
The whole cast of "Sunshine" is superb, and it is an ensemble cast, so in that case Greg would not probably receive a best actor nomination. But I have a feeling the film will win best screenplay, as is often the case with quirky comedies, a la Sideways.
Certainly, though, the traffic policeman scene was the funniest comic segment of a film I have seen all year. A masterful comedy overall.
Full marks also to Fox Searchlight for financing the film. Cheers!

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

I agree. Greg is certainly one of the best actors of his generation, very very underrated.

He pulled off such great performances in As Good as It Gets and Auto Focus, I can't believe he hasn't gotten an Oscar yet. But I believe he'll eventually get one in his acting career!

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

Everyone else from the ensemble cast of "LMS" has been nominated for one thing or another. I love the movie to death and I really do think it's a bit of a shame that Greg hasn't been nominated for any awards whatsoever for LMS. I've always liked Greg and I thought his performance in LMS was the best I've ever seen from him. I found it quite moving actually.

He was a Dad
He started realizing he wasn't getting his way in life
He started realizing he was a screw-up
The he came to terms with what any right-minded father would: to do absolutely
anything and everything he could possibly do in order to let his child live out
a dream.

I was touched by how his character truly realized what family meant, and even moreso, what it truly meant to be a parent.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

That's what I've been spreading at the Oscar Buzz board. No one seem to care about Kinnear though, what a shame =(

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

Kinnear was also dead on as Eagle Caoch Dick Vermeil. He is an underrated actor.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

He is not an underrated actor. Maybe he is starting to right the ship, but for a long ass time he's been garbage and every body knows it.. even people in Hollywood make fun of him like he isn't a part of it.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

Are we talking about the same actor here? I've never thought any of his performances as garbage, and I certainly have not heard anyone from Hollywood disagrees with his talent.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

He deserves a Oscar nomination, but it's not likely. His performance isn't "showy" enough for the Oscar voters.

He should have won it for As Good As It Gets too. I found his performance better than Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

I'm a huge Greg fan and i can see him as one of those actors who gets overlooked in everything he does.He is brilliant and we can only one day hope he will walk away with an Oscar.

Definetely robbed of Oscar for As Good as it Gets!!!!

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

I agree. Greg has not received enough praise for his performance in this film.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

greg is a fantastic actor. i loved him in little miss sunshine - he was so good. actually, the whole cast was really good.

greg is one of those actors who shines in every film he is in, even if the movie sucks he's always great.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

Yes he does deserve one

You think up a witty signature.

Re: Greg deserves the Oscar

I totally agree, he and carell are the two greatest, funniest movie losers in all the movies i've watched coz they were so damn convincing. They totally excel in these roles..they're specialists in this genre!

Toni Collette was such a natural i guess shes acts the same at home too lol.. Alan Arkin, Oscar best supporting actor, and he only appeared for half the show. And i'm sure Paul Dano is proud of his performance.

And the biggest star of the show, Abigail Breslin whom i cant compliment enough

LMS has without a single doubt, produced the best ensemble cast in recent years..
