How were you introduced to Thriller the phenomenon?

It was 1998, I was 10 years old and watching a South Park episode, where the Chef does a version of Thriller called "I'm going to make love". I then traced the song parody to the original.

In 1983/1984, I was studying in a religious seminary in Israel, and someone said he had something to show me, and it was the Thriller video. The rest is history!

December 2, 1983 MTV ( yes I cheated and had to look up the date but I did see the first airing) afterwards, the phone kept ringing, friends wanting to know if I saw it. We all thought it was amazing.
I had MTV on constantly instead of the radio while I was home.

I saw the music video when it first aired on MTV back in 1983.

I wasn't alive in the 80s, so I was introduced to the song from watching "13 going on 30"
