Politics : YouTube banning all anti-vaccine videos

In a blog post, YouTube said that it would remove videos claiming that vaccines do not reduce transmission or contraction of disease, and content that includes misinformation on the contents of the vaccines. Claims that approved vaccines cause autism, cancer or infertility, or that the vaccines contain trackers will also be removed.

Oh Jesus, no. Can’t allow anyone to think for themselves.

I’m a proponent of the vaccine. I want people vaccinated. Still, even more than that, I want people to think for themselves.

The covid vaccine is inherently more risky than like treatments for, say, the flu. The process was expedited. I can see why people are skeptical about it.

The CDC’s messaging has been mixed since before the onset of this pandemic. No wonder some people don’t trust them. Same with the federal government, from Trump to Biden.

The general takeaway I get from all of this is our knowledge about the vaccine and about covid is shaky and ambiguous. So, even though I have and advocate for the vaccine, I have a general feeling of distrust about what the government recommends we do about covid.. This whole thing about forcing the private sector to vaccinate employees is unconstitutional.

Anyways, YouTube has the “right” to do this. I just don’t think it’s the right thing to do.

I've seen some videos and posts on social media labeled "misinformation" (about various subjects) just because it was a point of view different from the platform's CEO (or whoever it is who determines what the "correct" point of view is).

Youtube banned me cos I linked Covid 19 to the HIV Africa scandal of the 1930s and 4 years before I predicted this so called Pandemic when discussing Charlie Sheen.

I suspect the main motivation for them doing this could be to avoid any potential lawsuits.

If that is the case or with that in mind, I can't blame them with how lawsuit crazy this country is for the littlest and dumbest things that bring up frivolous lawsuits instead of individuals taking personal responsibility for their own harmful and deadly mistakes.

I mentioned the lawsuit theory in this thread yesterday. I guess you guys missed it. I said, "Maybe YouTube is afraid of being sued, in the unlikely event that someone ends up claiming their family member died because they watched an anti-vaccine video on YouTube."

If YouTube is banning those videos because they're afraid of lawsuits, then where does it end? There are a lot of videos on the site that could potentially lead to lawsuits, such as the dangerous stunt videos mentioned later in this thread; people could copy a stunt they saw on YouTube and try to sue YouTube because they got hurt.

If YouTube (the people at YouTube who made this decision) is that afraid of lawsuits, they should either close the site or just allow videos nobody could find offensive or claim caused them harm, like funny cat videos, videos of shirtless Chris Pratt glistening from sweat while working out, etc.

I just did a quick search (so I haven't done thorough research), but most of the results I found related to YouTube lawsuits were about privacy laws. There were a few results related to "purged conservative YouTube channels."

If Google (who owns YouTube) is afraid of lawsuits, I think they're more afraid of pharmaceutical companies suing them than random people who might sue. The pharmaceutical companies could claim the videos with negative comments about their vaccines are doing harm to their products.

On a government database I looked at yesterday regarding mandatory quarantine procedures in place upon border arrival, it clearly stated that being vaxxed doesn't mean one can be exempt from MIQ because it isn't known if the vaxxes yet work and keep one protected.

Its a mixed bag of signals, when governments are pushing the vax for people to be protected from this COVID19 fiasco and then claim the opposite if it suits their agenda.

It's far more likely that they died because of the vaxx not from skipping it. Countries with the highest vaxx rates also have the highest covid rates. Charts and stats with factual information are being labeled misinformation by the MSM, even when they come from the CDC.

That's part of the problem with this ban - a lot of things that aren't misinformation are going to be removed. I don't know how they determine which videos contain misinformation; do random workers at YouTube/Google watch each video and make the decision, or are the videos automatically taken down if certain phrases are used in the videos?

The more it's been discussed in this thread, the more I think the reason they're removing the videos is because they don't want to be sued by the pharmaceutical companies. I'm surprised some people are thinking, "This is great! YouTube (Google) is looking out for us because they care so much!"
