Health & Fitness : Would you consider this as exercise?
Re: Would you consider this as exercise?
No, if your heart rate isn't elevated and you don't sweat and you don't do it for some extended period of time it doesn't count.
Re: Would you consider this as exercise?
She needs to take something for pain relief
Usually people who are overweight don't take care of themselves. Does she not have a job?

She has a PCP and is taking something for it.
There are a lot of other deets to this but I am not up for getting into it.
Does she not have a job?
She is retired.
And that is all I am going to say on those issues.
If I want to share more then I will create a thread on it.
In the meantime if anyone wants to chime in with their opinion of what movement she does is exercise or not they are welcome to do so.

There's literally no other way to read that.

What do you think?Tell her to load that shopping cart up with 500 frozen pizzas and push it around the store. Now that's exercise.
Is walking from the couch to the kitchen or bathroom and then back again with sometimes a walk while shopping or other errands as exercise or not?
Re: Would you consider this as exercise?
Lol! Right? Seriously though, it's excercise. It just doesn't burn calories faster than other types of movement.
Re: Would you consider this as exercise?
Any movement is beneficial. I looked it up and 3000 steps is what is recommended a day.
An article in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity recommends that inactive adults incorporate at least 30 minutes of brisk walking, which is about 3,000–4,000 steps, each day. For an average person, walking at a brisk pace means walking 100 steps per minute.
Would you consider this as exercise?
She wants to lose weight.
She also has pain issues that limits her mobility so she spends pretty much all day every day on the couch and mostly watches TV.
She also has a pedometer and considers it as exercise if she can get in about 3K steps a day.
This also includes groc. shopping while walking around the store with the cart.
I do not consider that as exercise.
I think of it as EXtra time one sets aside to EXERt oneself for a half hour or more with breaking a sweat and perhaps running out of breath depending on what it is, which is what I strive to do on a daily basis of four times a week or more.
