I had a good friend who had a sex change operation (male to female). This was in 1998 and I want to say it cost around $25,000.

I do know that her breast implants cost $8,000. That much I do remember.

I also remember my friend telling me that there was an operation they performed almost exclusively in Japan where one's voice could be made softer, lighter and more feminine sounding by shortening the vocal cords. It sounded very extreme and I am pretty sure the cost of the operation was around $75,000. My friend opted not to have that one done.

I'm sure there are many women out there who are comfortable with being female and despite what feminists claim about lack of equality with males, there would also be many women out there who are are self-aware of societies compensations that get made for the fairer gender.

Some things just can't be the same or equal for both genders and then within that dynamic, things are not in equilibrium between ALL of us when comparisons get made. Even aging and what it entails upsets the apple cart of equality.

If one is not gracious, then yes, there are coveting and envy issues going on and that is an undisputable fact.

Sometimes flaws may need to be addressed and for what we may perceive as ethical reasons and even for justice which is just an ideal. Thing is "fairness" has never been picky about what and whom it chooses and even nature within itself shows how ruthless and un-discriminatory life can be.

I agree about Joe. I don't know what he's like in real life, but in the Warhol/Morrisey movies, he's a blank. There is no projection of warmth or playfulness or humor. or even much personality. He's really not even all that masculine, if you think about it. I do know that he and Holly Woodlawn became lifelong friends and I find that extremely endearing. Holly was given extra doses of personality.

I have to admit that there are women who I find sexually appealing. Adrienne Barbeau and Elvira would be at the top of the list.
