Politics : Revolution in Cuba?

Revolution in Cuba?

This could be the beginning of Cuba's (hopefully Velvet) democratic revolution! They realize Fidel and Che are so 2nd Millenium. https://www.yahoo.com/news/demonstrators-havana-protest-shortages-rising-224433296.html

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

I don't know how accurate the site is but they say the "Daily recommended minimum amount of money for food per person" has gone from $6.38 in September of last year to $8.25 roughly now I guess.

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

Yeah, what they need is a good old US backed coup and another puppet like Batista put into power and then they can be "free" to have organized crime and US corporations in control again.

Castro wasn't perfect but at least he represented the Cuban people and national interests better than Batista and US imperialism did. The revolution brought advances in education and health care in particular. The lives of the poorest Cubans improved substantially under Castro. Undoing that would be a mistake. A "velvet revolution" would only be a counter-revolution and a return to the past (which is what the neocons and neolibs want for Cuba).

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

Despite the embargo, they still had better health care in the US.

I admire Castro and Guevera who would fight and die for something they believed in, and was a huge improvement over Batista, who even the US had to shy away from.

Ed Sullivan (fascist) even called Castro a hero, and a model for people everywhere.. I should look for it, and when Castro was on Paar.

You know the funniest thing I keep hearing from right-wingers about Castro/Che? "He didn't like gay people" — LMAO

All the doe eyes apologists for socialism say such things. I have yet to hear a single cuban refugee praise cuban health care as such. Much the opposite.

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

How can you be a Castro apologist when we know what he did to the country. Aside from almost destroying the world with the Cuban Missile Crisis, he destroyed the Cuban economy, made himself permanent dictator under the guise of "Communism", and the whole tragicomedy was propped up by the Soviets. When the USSR fell, it was propped up by foreign tourism. All the while he put all the dissidents in Prison. And sent all the criminals to Miami on the Muriel boatlift:

How you been the Cuba? They don't have Teslas, they have cars from the 1940s there. Why do Cubans risk their lives on rafts to get to the US?
I think it's time for democracy to come there just like in Venezuela.

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

No thanks.

I’ve reached my limit of Cuban Revolutions!

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

It's too early to celebrate the overthrow of the Cuban communists. We don't know what the military is going to do. Then, too, the whole thing just might fade out after a couple of weeks.

It would be amusing if it weren't such a genuine nightmare but as the riots for democracy break out in Cuba the U.S. is falling into a Marxist abyss.

Crazier and crazier day by day.

And This, Too, Shall Pass Away

Re: Revolution in Cuba?

. . .the U.S. is falling into a Marxist abyss.

I wish that were actually true, but it's so far from reality that to even remotely believe this certifies you as a deranged lunatic of the first order.

I mean, I'm a Marxist. I would damn well know if my side were winning and I'd be gleefully rubbing it in the faces of losers like you at every opportunity.
