Milton Berle : Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

Milton Berle appeared in at least one movie in each decade from the 1910s to the 1990s for 9 straight decades, 10 decades if you count TV movies. I can't find any other person who can match this. Can anyone else think of or find someone who has appeared in film in 10 straight decades? This has got to be a record.

Re: Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

George Burns gets close with eight decades.

Re: Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

Lilian Gish and Angelo Rossitto, both 8 decades. I'm searching for someone who can match Berle's achievement.

Re: Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

Mickey Rooney: 9 decades. From the 20's till now.

Re: Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

What do you mean by longevity?

Good point. When discussing "longevity", rumor has it that Milton Berle was, is, and always will be unmatched in Hollywood! ;-)

Re: Can anyone else match his longeviety in film?

It is said that Mickey Rooney holds the record. Milton Berle did not make one film year after year, he made his film debut as a child in 1914. He did not appear in his next film until 1920, he did not film at all in 1921. Berle became popular in films in 1937 with 2 films "New Faces Of 1937" and "Radio City Revels". His greatest moments of popularity in the cinema was in the 1940's with films like "Sun Valley Serenade". Berle became a Television star in 1948 and made one film in 1949 "Always Leave Them Laughing". He spent the years 1948-1956 on Television and did not make a film appearence until he made the guest spot in Jerry Lewis' film "The Bellboy". He made his film comeback in "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World". Unlike his contempories Berle did not attain stardom on Radio at all, he was a star of Films and Television and live acts.

HarlowMGM said it best in her post from 2012;

Milton Berle was a major storyteller (aka BS artist) who claimed to be a child performer in scores of silent films (interestingly, always famous classic ones) but there's not much if any proof to these tales. IMDb does list him in the cast of some silents but this probably is not coming from official information from the film production records but added by fans or something.
