Jackie Chan : hong kong edition of Rumble In the Bronx

hong kong edition of Rumble In the Bronx

How significantly better is it?

Re: hong kong edition of Rumble In the Bronx

I wouldn't say its hugely better but it's certainly worth watching if you can get your 5b4hands on it.
I recently got the japanese DVD, from cdJapan because its the only version that is undubbed, however no english subtitles for the cantonese speaking parts.

Most of the extra scenes consisted of anita mui's character. Plus longer conversations and additional shots.
There are two scenes missing from the HK version: the opening scene of the plane coming in and when Nancy kicks over the bikes running out of the night club.

Big difference is the soundtrack is completely different, I've read some people prefer the new line soundtrack, but I'd still go with the HK version.

The biggest problem is that the only version on dvd with english subtitles is from taiwan and is entirely dubbed in mandarin. HK dvd is the US cut
Only the japanese DVD by warner bros contains the original undubbed dialogue (Everyone in the New Line version is dubbed, even the english is dubbed again in to english. In the undubbed version Jackie speaks to the kid/Danny in Cantonese and is answered in English)

Sadly the only undubbed version with english subtitles is on a Hong Kong VCD which I'd be impressed if you find.

Re: hong kong edition of Rumble In the Bronx

thanks. I probably wont commit much energy to finding it. HK version of Who Am I was worthwhile and easy to attain, but mainly I stick to his eighties output which has received uncut HK versions in the UK. But again thanks for that info
