The Devil's Rain : The Devil's Rain (1975)

The Devil's Rain (1975)

This was one of movies featured in the grindhouse trailers compilations that I had to hunt down because it starred William Shatner, Ernest Borgnine, Tom Skerritt and Keenan Wynn, with John Travolta in his first movie, and Anton LaVey (who also was also technical advisor) both in bit parts. Turns out I didn't have to search too hard as the entire movie is on YouTube in good quality.

Just watched it and wow hahaha. I wonder if John Carpenter saw this before making Halloween as at one point William Shatner looked like he was wearing a William Shatner Halloween mask. laugh.gif

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

Hehe. I saw this when I was a kid, so I like it for nostalgic reasons.

I liked the melting faces.

B-movie, but a pretty decent cast.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

The meltings looked quite Italian to me. I enjoyed that. Cheesy fun.

I definitely don't expect any A-movies on any of these hunt downs! I'd actually be disappointed if I did. laugh.gif

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

I saw it as a double feature. The other movie was called Seizure (1974), it is Oliver Stone's first movie. Watch that one too if you can find it.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

I'll look for it! There's a lot of these old movies uploaded in great quality YouTube without ad breaks.

I'm suddenly reminded of movies like Coma.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

I really like Coma. I watched it recently and enjoyed it as much as I did the first time I saw it.

I will seek out more movies from that era. I'm open to any recommendations.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

I'm going to put it on my rewatch list. I love Geneviève Bujold.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

Excuse me but you have to say Academy Award Winner Ernest Borgnine.

Makes it look more classy.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

biggrin.gif Next time, I won't forget!

I thought how nice it was to see him. Especially in a bad guy role.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

He makes a great villain with that face and his hammy but solid style of acting. Emperor of the North Pole is a favourite but at the trashier end are Deadly Blessing and Sunday in the Country.

As you said above YouTube is great for finding these films and if you download them you are spared the advertising.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

The last scene in the film is as scary as anything I ever scene. And I'm middle not young.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

What other movies scared you as a kid?

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

The Beyond the Door films were really terrifying to me. The Original Omen Films. The original Exorcist . Don't look in the basement. A ton of stuff. My parents certainly were liberal in what they allowed their children to watch.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

I can always tell when LaVey was on hand because they get the sigils correct, lol

I remember this, because of the melting faces. I love the cheesey-B's.

I thought the same thing with William Shatner and the Halloween mask!! Deja vu. Glad I wasn't alone in that.

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

John Travolta in his less-than-sterling film debut.

Happy Birthday, ya fine-ass sexy bitch!

Re: The Devil's Rain (1975)

Do you or anyone here have any idea what the cultists were chanting? The specific words?

I'm trying to upgrade an srt file for the film.
