I heard a quote today that made me wonder what trolling was back in Mark Twain's days! I might not have the exact wording right, but it was at least very close to, "Never argue with stupid people. They'll drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience." I was like, "Wow. Mark Twain totally gets it." I just try not to argue with anyone (though, admittedly, every now and then I do get rankled). It brings me down every time and that's not a feeling I enjoy. :-)

Agreed, Jo. I am easy to bait into conversation and I love discussing things, so it's easy for me to slip into the mire Trolls create. That is a good quote! I'm really trying to not feed the Trolls myself and give them what they want.

That would be Mark Twain himself. He trolled society with Letters from the Earth, a book about the Devil writing letters from Hell to God in Heaven, in which the Devil makes hilarious remarks about humanity and why we don't deserve anything other than damnation. The book was so controversial it was banned, even though Twain was just having a laugh. I have a feeling he knew how his book would be received.

That's what we're all shooting for, right? Alas, on message boards our guns are keyboards and our bullets are words. Never purported to be a hero, DOA, but you have to admit there are a lot of people that just post to get a rise out of people (you wouldn't know anything about that, hmmmmm?). Sometimes it's just better not to engage. I choose to keep it positive (I try to, at least - every good would-be hero has their imperfections).
