It : Rubbish

Rubbish

From what I have seen in the film's page, this version of the novel looks terrible. IT is one of Stephen King's best novels, which I first read when I was 16. The 1990 TV film adaptation is very lame, but still watchable. But apparently in this remake the action moves 30 years forward!! WTF!!!
So, the 1950's atmosphere that I am so fond of (rock-and-roll music, cars, hairstyles, movies) is completely lost here?!!
Definitely I will not watch this piece of crap.

Re: Rubbish

Can respect that. But you are probably in the minority with this. Some people believe the film will turn out sh"ty, while most others are grasping to the possibility of it turning out to be great.

"That's it. It bit into his arm-pit. Like It wanted to eat him, man. Like It wanted to eat his heart."

Re: Rubbish

Congratulations, this is the second dumbest thing I've seen posted today.

Re: Rubbish

None of that stuff are crucial to the story of It. Except maybe Rock music Roll, but there was still rock music in the 80s.

But thanks for telling us. You must have been pretty offended by the idea.

Re: Rubbish

This is a prime example of how certain audience members and people are so entitled and selfish that any slight devation from anything and they whine and cry and try to spread the hate around

While the timeline is important for IT.. IT IS BY NO MEANS A GAME CHANGER

what I find funny is how OP clims the miniseries (while lame) is watchable when its evident that this new adapatation will follow the book far far more closely

that type of logic makes ZERO sense.. btw STOP *beep* lying, youll be seeing this film with the rest of us.. or your such an entitled idiot that one slight change will curb any enthusiasm to see it

That is what you think.
On these days of Ultra-PC crap? No way, my man.
The original IT novel contains quite a number of homophobic, racist and anti-Semitic scenes.
Example:
One of Pennywise's victims in 1984 is a gay youth, and the town police when investigating the murder they virtually say "Well, he was a *beep* queer asking for it, so who the *beep* cares? He got what he was asking for"
The black kid in the Loosers's Gang back in 1958 is called a *beep* N*****" by the bad boy's gang.
And within the Loosers's gang, the kids often make fun of the Jewish boy, with things such as "He killed Christ" and so. But Stan doesn't take it to heart but just laughs with the others, because they are children and best friends.
But, of course, on these days of ultra-PC-walking-on-eggshells-self-righteousness-holy-crap

Re: Rubbish

oh please the racist card and homofobe angle is NOT something that need to be told only in the 50s its VERY well and alive TODAY.

That is a *beep* argument.

setting part 1 in the 80s is to me a brilliant idea that came from Cary FUkunaga when he first wrote the script. WHich they are still keepin to a amount of around 60%.

There is also some marketing ideas behind why they are coosing the 80s cause that is where most of the targetaudience for this movie grew up on. No one that lived in the 5s will see this movie. But people who grew up in the 80s will def feel right at home.

Promote The Thing 2 movie!

Yes, I know that very well.
I was just 12 years old when Rock Hudson died and the world really became aware of AIDS for the first time. Queers' cancer, they called it back then.
And then it was Freddie Mercury, Anthony Perkins, Ruddy Nureyev, Derek Jarman

Re: Rubbish

And how do you know racism, homophobia and misogyny won't be portraied in this adaptation?

You literally have no idea what you're talking aboutlike, what you are saying is pure speculation based on nothing.
