It : Stanley Kubrick's IT
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
I love Del Toro, but he would a terrible choice for It. His movies tend to be larger than live and not grounded in reality.
For something like It, or basically most Stephen King adaptations, you need a more "realistic" approach. What makes King's stories so great is that they are about normal people in extraordinary circumstances
My father was a drunk, a gambler and a womanizer. I idolized him

Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
Frank Darabont would have been a good choice
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
I wonder how IT could be with the Duffer Brothers.
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
Yeah, Stranger Thins felt SO much like IT. They wanted to do IT actually, but the producers weren't convinced. Now we got the guy who did Mama.
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
Yes, it would be very interesting to see their version, unfortunately WB did not wanted. But I'm happy with Andy.
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
The guy who did Mama gave his absolute heartblood to realize this project, which is a big passion of his. He will not disappoint us. In hindsight, of course it would have been interesting to see what the Duffer Brothers would have done with "It" yes, but I'm convinced we got the right people in charge. Now we got both "It" and a second season of Stranger Things come next September :)

Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
If they would have gone for the same retro look with a faux 80's synth score, it would have been terrible.
It may have worked for Stranger Things, but using that style for It would have really cheapened it.

Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
Tim Burton's work is way too stylized for this to work, but to be fair it'd probably be cool if he designed the tunnels and stuff during Bill's fight with It during the Ritual of Chd.
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
Maybe he could design some sets, or something.
But I wouldn't pick him as the first director to helm this film.

Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
Fun fact: Del Toro is Muschietti's mentor. He was on set as well not too long ago
Re: Stanley Kubrick's IT
What about Kubrick's work makes you think he could have done this movie? All you do is command me to envision something, as if whatever I think up was your idea too?

JOHN CARPTENTER'S "IT"
JC would have brought one of the coolest aesthetics to IT. I suspect he would have brought his own influences and would have digressed from the book in places.
The irony is that as great as a John Carpenter IT could have been, Carpenter himself insists his characters all have no back story. They have no prior history. All the best Carpenter films, his characters start with no personal context.
IT is ALL ABOUT personal context. Yet, i'm convinced that Carpenter would have been perfect.

Stanley Kubrick's IT
Would it probably be like the book? Maybe maybe not.
Would it be a great masterpiece like The Shining?
We'll never know. Although I loved the book, I enjoy the movie a little more.
I would have LOVED to see
Stanley Kubrick direct IT back in the 80's or something.
Maybe even Gulliermo Del Toro would be a great director.
YES I AM HAPPY WITH ANDRES M. AS DIRECTOR.
Just dreaming of what a Stanley Kubrick IT would be like .
