Please describe the ending!
I am not asking to explain the ending. I never seen this movie. And since its not on Netflix, not on Hulu and its not even on torrent site Ill never see it. So please tell me what the ending is and whats all the fuzz about this damn ending

The Hebrew school kids are being taken to a safe room as the tornado is approaching, the teacher can't seem to work the key, the kids silently watch as the storm gets nearer. Cut to black, and the closing music.

Don't lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools.

You seen the ending of The Sopranos? There ya go.

Accept the mystery.

It's probably on every digital store so gap can you not watch it. Best buy. Walmart. Cmon

I see the tornado as representing the devastating turmoil about to strike the country in the following year, 1968, with the Tet Offensive, assassinations, and riots. The storm is coming in and the rabbi cannot open the door to the shelter; religion no longer provides the key.

The four, count 'em four, shots of the American flag in that scene suggest that the storm is coming in on the country, not just the school. One of the kids points to the flag and says the wind is going to tear it apart.

1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
2 "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements-surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? - Job 38:1-5

The end titles roll and roll and roll for a few minutes,
and then we get to the last line:
NO JEWS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS MOTION PICTURE.

I thought it meant things were going to get a lot worse. People sometimes say "a storm's coming" meaning, all Hell is about to break loose.

The ending is father and son experiencing temptation to do "evil." Larry succumbs to it for reasons we can pity him forand immediately gets what we assume is bad news. His son is ready to go to the bully/drug dealer who has been after him all through the film, but at the last minute, when Danny realizes the coming tornado may kill the kid and get him (Danny) out of hot water, he decides to let the guy wander closer to the tornado.

The film is about making decisions out of love, out of pity, out of fear, out of wickedness, so it's just natural that the ending is not really an ending. The "whirlwind" just keeps on going from one generation to the next.

Most brilliant film these brothers have ever made.

Wait, didn't Larry change the grade after he opened the letter that billed him for the divorce services? Not before the letter?

I took it that he opened the letter, found he had this massive bill to pay that was yet another thing to oppress and stress him, then he looked again at the grade and though "Screw it, I'll change it." Because he just kind of didn't care about anything anymore.

The ending is poor.

The whole film is asks the question whether what is happening in our main character's life are the result of God being present in his life, or the result of the lack of God's existence. The answer is "it's too close to call".

The "its too close to call" theme repeats all throughout this film, including with the opening scene, which seems to have nothing to do with the rest of the film.

An old man shows up at an old couples house in the middle of a strong blizzard. The husband believes this old man showing up is a miracle, because the old man helped the husband in some way (can't remember how, think he fixed his cart or something). The wife, however, thinks this old man is a debic, or debuck or something like that. It means "demon" in hebrew or something. She stabs the old man and he begins to bleed, but he also doesn't die. He gets up and walks out of the house.

The point? It could go either way. The old man could be a miracle sent by God to help the husband, or he could be a demon. It's too close to tell.

Larry's neighbor, later on in the film, mows his lawn, and there is a discussion about how the line between the lawns is "too close to tell". Can't tell where one yard starts and another ends.

The theme of this film is "God exists or God does not exist, and it's too close too tell which is the truth". All of the things going wrong in Larry's life could be because God does exist or they could be because God does not exist.

But there are some hints as to what the answer is.

Larry gets a phone call while he is at his office that is about a music club sending Larry albums. They are going to send him Santana's "Abraxas" album. Larry freaks out and denied the album, saying he doesn't want it.

Apparently Abraxas means God and this scene is supposed to be Larry rejecting God. What happens next? Larry gives in and changes the cheating Asian kid's grades. Then Larry gets a phone call from a doctor, asking him to come into the office, implying it's bad news (if it were good news the doctor could tell Larry over the phone). Then LArry's son is locked outside when a tornado is approaching.

Then the movie ends.

What happens?

I personally think Larry encounters all of this bullsh!t the whole movie, and he is confused as to whether or not it's God testing him, or whether or not God just doesn't exist and his life just sucks. After no really getting much clarity, Larry eventually gives in, denies God and then things go wrong. Sounds like his hospital stuff is goes wrong, and his son is trapepd outside during a tornado.

It's about a man denying God's presence after being confused whether or not God exists.

Since the movie takes place in 1967 and Santana Abraxas wasn't released until 1970, it could be interpreted that by denying Abraxas, Larry is denying the future, 'his' future. And so it might transpire, considering the ominous medical phone call he receives.

I think it implies that God does exist. His life is reacting to his choices almost instantly after he changes the grade the phone rings with bad news and his son is trappdd outside during a tornado. Implyjng things can get alot worse based on our actions.
