I Love Lucy : The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League

The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League

So how many members did that club actually have? In "The Operetta", we see one group of women. Then in "Ricky Has Labor Pains", the club members give Lucy a baby shower and it's an entirely different group of women. And then came "The Club Election" and "Lucy's Club Dance" where we see yet ANOTHER group which now includes Lillian/Carolyn Appleby and Marion Strong. So either that club had a high turnover when it came to members or it's a much bigger organization than we thought lol!

Re: The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League

That makes sense. In The Operetta the women surely discovered how Lucy mismanaged the club's money and she got the boot!

I thought that the club members in The Operetta were chosen for their ability to sing. They weren't exactly Lucy's peer group.

The show was not exactly great with continuity so I guess the writers never really thought about casting the same actresses in later episodes. Like I said, they were a lot older than Lucy. And by then Carolyn was introduced as Lucy's friend along with Marion Strong and a few others.

Re: The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League

I do love "The Operetta." Yeah, Lucy might have been the youngest in the club. I always thought maybe Ethel was a member and then got Lucy involved. In this episode, Ethel came in after the club left and said something to the effect that she'd tried to get home in time for the meeting. So I always figured that the ladies were closer to (and many were older than) Ethel - and Lucy joined because Ethel did.

"I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me..."
