Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
My favorite was also the first one, the whole movie was good but after that it was all downhill.
"Dr. Heidegger's Experiment" - 10
"Rappaccini's Daughter" - 8.5
"The House of the Seven Gables" - 8
Twice-Told Tales (1963) - 9

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
Dr. Heidegger, definitely. The relationship between Sebastian Cabot and Vincent Price makes the episode work. The others feel relatively mechanical by comparison. I mean, I love spooky haunted house stuff, but the "Seven Gables" episode is something that seems cool only when you're a kid; as an adult, it's just hokey (although still enjoyable in its own weird campy way, I suppose).

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
My favorite tale is the second; "Rappacchini's Daughter". It's also is one of the few horror tellings that ever managed to frighten me with its content. This particular tale is haunting, saddening and petrifying all at once! No matter how selfish and monstrous the crimes of Price's character are, he's a hurt soul and you're more likely to pity him rather than to loath him. The flower garden, where most of the story is filmed, is truly enchanting and Joyce Taylor is simply mesmerizing as the poor Beatrice. The tragic climax to this tale could have come straight from Shakespeare's repertoire. Wonderful stuff!

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
The second is the best for a number of evident reasons : well-crafted & compelling.
The first one is nifty, but the 3rd has an inherent weakness to it.Its a tad jarring and almost seems out of place. However,it is a good cast.

You're not the only one, Immalee! I loved House of the Seven Gables, and I've been known to skip straight to it when I have the DVD on. I love the book, and of course this is nothing like the book, but somehow I don't care! I just love the cast in this version, and although its full of cheese, it's still got a great ending.

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
"Rappaccini's Daughter" was my favorite of the three episodes. It's sad, touching and genuinely spooky, with charming performances by Joyce Taylor and Brett Halsey as a couple of doomed young lovers. Vincent Price is likewise superb as Taylor's monstrously domineering and overprotective father. And the tragic ending is positively heartbreaking.

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
I liked the first one the most, followed by the second, then the third. Though the last tale (House of Seven Gables) did pick up in the end. All in all, a pretty good horror movie!

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
"The House of Seven Gables", flawed though it was, is my favorite of the three. "Rappacini´s Daughter" is, as a film, probably the better-made of them all.

My Choice…..and Quote
Althought it is difficult to choose one of the 3 stories, if I really must it would be Rappacini's Daughter.
It may be a bit unfair for anyone to compare these older movies to the new. Hard to compete with all that CGI and big budget stuff, so take it from there.
I think the quote>>>>: "The look of Horror spoils your lovely face" - Vincent Price <<<<<that someone asked about came from "House of Wax". But don't quote me on that LOL it has been a while since I watched it. Maybe "LucythePunk" will return one day to confirm *s*

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
I prefered "The House of Seven Gables". The other two were fine, but pretty lukewarm IMO.

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
I liked the first one as well best.
Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
Rappacini's Daughter - wonderfully surreal story and an amazing set constructed to represent the garden.
Only came across this movie for the first time tonight. What a find!

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
I saw this movie when it first came out. I was six.
I didn't even remember that there were two other segments, but scenes from "Rappacini's Daughter" made such an impression on me as a child that one of my first projects when "home computers" were developed was trying to track down what movie that might have been. (It's funny to think about that now, but there were no sites like IMDb or search engines like Google--we were working with C-prompts.)
I love being able to come here and see that people are still enchanted by it.

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
1. Dr. Heidegger's Experiment = Excellent
2. House of the Seven Gables = mediocre until the last 10 or so minutes, which were quite good/suspensful.
3. Rappaccini's Daughter = really boring

Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
I just watched it today for the first time and I liked all 3 stories equally. Jacqueline DeWit had some ugly teeth, if I had any complaint it was that.
Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
Really tough to say--I loved all three. If I had to choose, it would probably be the first one.
Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
The second.
Re: Which story did you enjoy the most?
Dr. Heidegger was the most emotionally satisfying; and its art direction,–the cozy little house, the ambiguous setting (England?, America?, Europe?) is beautiful; while House Of The Seven Gables, which also features some gorgeous, albeit low budgeted sets, and a whole lot of conniving going on, is quite the rip roaring melodrama, yet I enjoyed it. Great cinema this film is not, however I found it engaging the first time around, decades ago, and it can still draw me in for if nothing else the way it looks, and some good actors to lend it flavor. Rappacini is the only one that didn't quite work for me; no fault of the actors, it just felt poorly made. There was nothing about it to draw me in.

Dr. Heidegger's Experiment
Which story did you enjoy the most?
I always enjoy wacthing all three
stories. Especially, Vincent Price!
If I had to choose one as my favorite,
I would pick Dr. Heidegger's Experiment.

he wanted was to look and feel young again,
and bring Sylvia back to life.
