Computers and Software : Thanks for all the help over the years
Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
I've had a blast talking about computer-related issues, especially with the conversion from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and how it was causing people problems at the time.
I wish they would keep some boards, but alas, they're getting rid of all of them.
And, a big thank you to the people that helped me with my PC problems as well.

Exactly. i wished they would at least keep the boards on a per movie basis (like when you look a random movie up i wish they would keep the boards going on those) even if they dumped the main 'message boards' section.

Yes, I'd like to add my gratitude also, to the people on this board.
I haven't always been knowledgeable enough to give but I've been on the receiving end of so much help here, from incredibly knowledgeable people taking the time and trouble to answer people's dilemmas.
Thank you, everyone on the Computer board.

Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
As I just posted in another thread, Woody Leonhard, who has been providing valuable computer advice for years, just happened to recently expand his site and add a forum called the "AskWoody Lounge".
I signed up for an account there about a week ago with the same user name. I haven't posted anything there yet, but I plan to make that my new hangout for computer Q&A once this IMDb board shuts down.
You can sign up for an account here: https://www.askwoody.com/register/
You can view the forum here: https://www.askwoody.com/forums/
Maybe I'll see you there.

That's where a decent portion of the users around here went it seems. i went there to (same name as here, i just changed my avatar picture is all).
basically it's a duplicate of the forums here and even has the 'computer and software' section there to.
EDIT: i just noticed that link was posted above.

Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
Yes, hopefully many IMDb users will still be able to find each other over there on that site; many seem to have joined. It will almost be like taking up where we left off, especially since all the main boards are duplicated there.
Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
Several sites have popped up. These seem to be the most popular:
http://imdforums.com
http://thegotboard.com
http://imdb2.freeforums.net
http://themoviedb.org
http://imdforums.com
http://thegotboard.com

http://themoviedb.org
Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
Yes, all of those look promising; I'm working on joining all of them, then seeing which ones I settle into the most.
It's very heartening to see people try to keep the community connected.

Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
I'm a member of the first and third (the two that have "imd" in their names). When it comes to users though, imdb2 seems to be the winner.

Re: Thanks for all the help over the years
http://themoviedb.org has discussion boards for each individual movie. Search a title and when you reach the movie page there will be a column of icons on the left (conversation bubble, video camera, image, etc). Click on the conversation bubble and you go the the discussion page.
There is little to no activity on the discussion boards yet because this function was removed at some time in the past and has just been resurrected since the IMDb announcement.
