Arcade Fire : Pffft

Pffft

Just saw them on SNL. I guess this is what passes for music, these days - singing off key, offbeat haircuts, and electric jackets. I'm so impressed. It was like "I am so rocking these streamers. Is everybody looking at me, yet?"

Re: Pffft

"And another thing! Movies don't have intermissions any more! These kids today don't have no respect! In my day you had to walk fifteen miles in the snow to get to school, and with only coal to eat!

Get off my lawn you kids!"

Re: Pffft

That was really the best you could do, summer school valedictorian? I mean, don't bother making an argument, or anything. What are you going to do next? Call me a troll? They suck. You're a feckless trend follower. So what?

Re: Pffft

This is actually pretty good for what passes as music these days. And regardless of if you like them or not, the second song they performed, Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains), was freaking awesome. They had a great performance. Listen to it again wb68ith an open mind and you'll be surprised. Or don't and keep being wrong.

Re: Pffft

I did listen to it with an open mind, you presumptuous child. There is no right or wrong when it comes to matters of taste, as much as you might like to convince yourself otherwise. Yeah, I'd give them higher marks than Bieber or Gaga, etc., but that really isn't saying much. They came off as incredibly pretentious, to me, as do, now, their fans. Fan logic - now, there's a true oxymoron if there ever was one.

Re: Pffft

You can't make a definite negative opinion statement regarding a given musical act, and then cry foul when somebody makes a positive one. As you so neatly put it, there's no right or wrong.

That's why I didn't bother making an argument. You've obviously made up your mind about this band and their music, just as I've made up mine. Further more, the patronising crochety-old-man "Turn that stereo down!" tones you chose to voice it in - not to mention the terms you used to address the rest of us - make it clear that you'd already made up your mind about their audience, so acting like we're the douches in this conversation is a dog that won't hunt.

I can start telling you what I like about this band if you want, but they won't sound any different. They're not your thing. That's cool, I can live with that, their are plenty other bands in the sea.

Re: Pffft

If you'd listen with an open mind you wouldn't automatically label them pretentious. I'm not even sure how they came off that way to you. I thought they were having a blast playing and sharing their music. You don't have to like it, but those sorts of labels for no good reason is whats childish. Now you can go back to your hate.

Re: Pffft

funny thread. Especially since in the end you come off as pretty pretentious yourself..lol. And quite the tool to boot. Let me guess.all you like i5b4s hip hop. are you one of those wigger kids that drive around with the 808 bumpin and neon on the bottom of your Hyundai?

Re: Pffft

God, you're boring. No, by the way, I can't stand hip hop. I'll take poor assumptions for $1000, Alex. I'm a musician and a DJ at an alternative radio station. Odd that you little cretins are so emotionally over-committed to this band. How queer.
