Here Comes the Boom : Didn't I see this movie already…

Didn't I see this movie already…

Didn't I see this movie already, I think they called it, Nacho Libre. A little originality would be appreciated from Hollywood once in a while.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

lol @ the original guy who copies every other post out there with the "this movie used to be called..." line.

Dumb@ss.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Yes, I don't have any originality that's why I don't make make millions of dollars working in Hollywood. But, I do expect some originality from those who do make big bucks.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Hollywood and originality in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

A person is never happy except at the price of some ignorance.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Didn’t I see the title of this topic before? Like a million times?

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Did you see this movie?
Did you see Nacho Libre?

Are you smart enough, even though you apparently are willing to admit you lack originality, to see the major differences in the storylines of the two movies?

Apparently not.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Whoops. Revising last comment. You, "sleepy_head" are an asswipe.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

I see.

I'm an "asswipe" because I exposed the truth, that this movie is NOT a re-tooling of "Nacho Libre" and ruined your illusion.

I won't sink to your level with insults. The truth speaks for itself.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Thanks for confirming that HCTB is simply "Nacho Libre" redux... much appreciated!

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Nacho Libre - A movie about a Luchador Monk. It's a comedy about wrestling
Here Comes the Boom - A teacher practices MMA. A comedy about mixed martial arts.

Yeah, I'm sure UFC fighters would love how you equated them with professional wrestlers.

Doe us all a favour and go back to complaining about movies you actually watched.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

I think it's closer to 'Warrior' actually. Teacher practices MMA. Wins at the end.

Did I get that about right? I haven't seen 'Here Comes the Boom' yet. Only difference is, 'Warrior' isn't a comedy.

So I'm guessing, this must be the comedy remake of 'Warrior'.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Honestly, I havent' seen Warrior yet, but it sounds about the same. This flick was a comedy, and I understand that Warrior was a heavy drama with mma mixed in. Good call.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Warrior is exactly what I thought.

"Oh, Britta's in this?"

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

You do know that Warrior isn't the first movie to feature a working class guy trying his hand at fighting professionally, right? Maybe you've heard of Rocky & Cinderella Man?

By your logic, My Three Sons and Bonanza are the same show since both shared the plot point of a father taking care of 3 sons.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Uncle Charlie = Hop Sing

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Of course not. The 80's were ripe with those movies. Only difference is, we didn't get 'Rocky' and then a ripoff comedy version of Rocky in the same year. This isn't a historical movie comparison. Two movies came out at nearly the same time, with nearly the same plot and theme, where one was a comedy and the other wasn't.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

I saw paul blart. Nuff said.

A black pool opened up at my feet. I dived in. It had no bottom.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Nacho was sooo funny!

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

I thought it was called "Warrior"

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

The same way as Rocky is a remake of Raging Bull...

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

WOW the idiots on this board..

Rocky 1976
Raging Bull 1980

Who remade who.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

two feet.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

The movie isn't original, but it still entertaining and that's the most important part for going to see a movie. There are a lot of movies like this, where a person or a group of people have to do something to earn enough money to safe some other cause. There has to be over a 100 of these type of films out on DVD right now, but it with different characters and a different script.

I thought this movie was funny and entertaining. A bit violent at times, but that's what MMA is all about. I thought Kevin James did a decent job. His exchanges with his real life older brother Gary Valentine was great. I didn't even know he had a brother, but knew after seeing Gary that he was either Kevin's brother or a very close relative. They not only look alike, but sound exactly alike as well. Selma & Henry are all very good here, but there parts could have been played by just about anyone.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Thank you, i thought the same...The movie did its job and that was entertainment. So what the story is old and used..i liked it the movie and thats the main thing.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

I'm not trying to defend the movie or anything, but one of the most famous UFC fighters is(was?) a teacher. It's been brought up a lot throughout his career, maybe that inspired the writers. It's a seemingly unlikely story that probably would have been made sooner or later.

Or on the negative but just as likely, the writer's could just be using the MMA buzz to shamelessly sell a very typical comedy.

I don't understand how movie goers are so comfortable taking the most broad similarities and actually shout rip-off and pinpoint a single movie. The sad part is that it's always these very formulaic dime a dozen comedies that any plot can be inserted into.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

The difference was this had a story, content, good writing and decent acting. So um.. No you didn't.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

do us all a favour and delete your imdb account you ignorrant piece of elephant turd.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

i think the movie "Knucklehead" was also on the same lines.....

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

That wasn't too much like Nacho Libre, I liked it a lot more. It was like Rocky I suppose, but try to remember there are only, what, 36 Plots in ALL of literature? And that's the highest estimate! In other words "It's all been done." http://www.ipl.org/div/farq/plotFARQ.html#36

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

the movie is based on an episode of Seinfeld... RIPOFF

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Im surprised by the righteous indignation of everyone on here concerning the originality of a movie premise --- Todays culture is notorious for its parasitic use of others ideas and work --- be it music, print, fashion, or the movies, which have always been about packaging the same stuff with a different ribbon on it. Back in the Hollywood golden age, one of the producers had a stack of scripts on his desk of previously successful movies --- as a writer, you came in and he took the top one, handed it to you and it was your job to change the names and the venue, but keep the same story. Although nowadays, its all about sequels....I mean really, do we need another Fast and Furious movie? is there some deep message that wasn't touched upon in Fast and Furious 1 through 5???? And I cant wait for the Hangover Part 17, when the Wolf Packs grandsons get together for a bachelor party, and mayhem and hilarity ensues....

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Yeah, this film is Rocky meets Nacho Libre

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Reminds me of WARRIOR.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

It actually kind of reminded me more of Joe Somebody than Nacho Libre. The humor was kind of similar and so was the plot.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

No, you didn't... It had a different sport, and a different reason for taking up said sport; that makes it a different movie.

"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

Pretty much the same concept as the movie Warrior(2011). Just a minor plot change and they were good to go... Good movie however, but it did feel as though I have seen it before.

Re: Didn't I see this movie already…

nope, not at all similar
