Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives : This is the best Friday film ever

This is the best Friday film ever

Jason lives is the film that made Jason and went on to become one of the best films in the franchise. No other Friday film even compares to how well this one was written and filmed.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

This is BY FAR my favorite and most certainly the most nostalgic for me. Everyone loves 7 but it wasnt as half as good as this. This is the ultimate Jason movie, besides it being well directed. The atmosphere and dread is incredible.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

This is my favourite Friday The 13th movie also

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

Easily my favorite as well. 2 and 4 are also good (and Jason X is one of my guiltiest pleasures), but Jason Lives is where just about everything worked. The self-referential dialogue and black humor made this into one of the funniest movies of the eighties, perhaps ever. When horror movies are funny they wipe the floor with "normal" comedies.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

This is my favorite Friday too and I've seen it more times than any of the others. 'Final Chapter' is the runner up for me and a great one it is as well, but 'Jason Lives' is so much fun. I think this one has so many great things going for it. Jason is just awesome here. He's all rotted out and the gear he rocks really completes his look. I really like the hero and heroine too. They're strong and believable and the sheriff for once is a great addition up to his epic death scene. Love the self referential humor, the breaking of the fourth wall, the opening resurrection scene and Horshack! The theme by Alice Cooper is awesome too. Great Friday flick!

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

I think it's the best because it captures the essence of everything you want in these types of films: Fun story, satisfying gore, decent acting/script that isn't cringe-worthy , sex appeal, some comedy elements, a good soundtrack in both score and songs, and to be scared *beep* by Jason, who is the ultimate force for the first time here.

I also think it's because every Friday film that followed got worse and worse, save for Freddy Vs Jason and the reboot (they were just okay in my opinion).

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

Agreed.

Wait a minute who am I here?

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

There's hardly any gore and almost no story at all here. There's not even any tits. There wasn't that much comedy, either. Most of the characters had no personality. Most of the movie is just Jason walking around and killing random people that just happen to be hanging out in the woods, most of them at night. I'm surprised people like this one so much because it's pretty boring and stupid. Of course, all of the 'Friday the 13th' movies are awful, but I don't see much in this one to make this one stand out.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

Absolutely! And a lot of fun too, highly rewatchable and a killer soundtrack! Always the highlight of the franchise when marathoning

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

The first one is still my favourite, but Jason Lives is either my #1 or #2 sequel, along with Part III.

More importantly, are you going to finish that sammich?

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

I've got a soft spot for all of them. Love the paintball scene.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

It's my favorite as well. What a fun, entertaining film.

Call me Snake.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

Part 5 is my favorite. I know many dislike it, but I loved it dark, mean spirited tone (much like the others before it), and the ending really set up a great twist that could have moved the franchise in a new direction, or given it a new beginning as it stated (which unfortunately we never saw, as fans wanted more of Jason).

That all aside, 5 has the best nudity of the series :)

The Saw Is Family

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

I think I like Part VII slightly more, but this is my second favorite of the series.

Re: This is the best Friday film ever

Definitely one of the most entertaining films in the entire Friday franchise. I totally dig the neat blend of horror and humor.
