Ferris Bueller's Day Off : HUGE goof during the parade scene

HUGE goof during the parade scene

Just revisited it and noticed a massive mistake. During the parade scene, (around 58:09), a theater in the background is advertising "Godzilla 1985" and "Teen Wolf" as "all new." Ironically, both movies were released in August of 1985. All the times I have seen this movie, I can't believe I missed out on this goof. It makes me wonder if anyone else spot this.

Because how else would Ferris and his friends graduate...Unless the car they were driving around in was really a time machine...nah, too stupid.

Re: HUGE goof during the parade scene

Nice.

Maybe the "All New" sign was out of date/the staff didn't care if it represented the truth.

Godzilla and Teen Wolf could have been brought back in Spring 1986, or were so popular they stayed at that theater.

Okay, really just a fun goof.

Thanks for sharing, I haven't seen that.

Re: HUGE goof during the parade scene

Saw that first time I watched it actually

Its only because the movie was filmed then and released later

Re: HUGE goof during the parade scene

That's not a goof. Ferris Bueller was released in 1986, but probably filmed in summer of 1985 when those two movies were in the theater.

Re: HUGE goof during the parade scene

Godzilla 1985" and "Teen Wolf" were both released on the same day (August 23, 1985). Ferris Bueller was filmed from Sept. 9, 1985 to Nov. 22, 1985 and released in June 1986. The parade scene was shot on two Saturdays (Sept. 28 and October 5). So Teen Wolf and Godzilla ‘85 were still playing in theaters when the parade scene was shot.

Re: HUGE goof during the parade scene

So did you expect the film-makers to go forward in a time machine to find out what movies would be playing at that theater when the film was originally released, so they could then change the marquee to depict an accurate 1986 timeline? Perhaps they could have advertised Ferris Bueller's Day Off…..

Norman! What did you put in my tea?
