Can't Buy Me Love : Bobby home for New Year's Day

Bobby home for New Year's Day

Bobby, playing for the Iowa hawkeyes football team, was home for New Year's Day? Most bowl games were played on new years day back thendid he ditch the team to feel like a big shot with his high school friends? Stupid plot hole.

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

Maybe he was a "big time" football player in high school. But was sitting on th bench in college.

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

not exactly a plot hole .. But yeah just because he was a huge football player in highschool doesn't mean anything about college lol

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

Most likely a bench warmer

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

He was put on the bench because of his mullet.

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

Ha Ha!! Yes! Thank you..you are the first person I've seen to mention the mullet! Lol

I thought you came up here to have a nervous breakdown. ..I decided not to have one.

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

Yes, bowl games are usually played around New Year's. However, there's a chance that Iowa didn't get selected to play in a bowl game that year.

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

For the record, if it's NYE 1986 OR 1987, Iowa played in the Holiday Bowl each of those years, which was late December, in San Diego. Thus, Bobby could have gotten home in time. Hayden Fry would have allowed the players to go from the bowl game straight to their homes.

Also, Bobby, I believe, was a running back. The Hawkeyes were loaded at RB those years, so Bobby may not have even made the traveling squad and been left off the bowl game roster altogether :)

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

Good info quinnum. Wasn't Chuck Long the QB on some of those teams?

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

ya

Re: Bobby home for New Year's Day

Bobby being a first year player could have also been redshirted and not played any his first year. A lot of different variables.
