Little House on the Prairie : That Large Window High Above The Door…………..
Re: That Large Window High Above The Door…………..
I always thought Ms. Beadle's "apartment" was up there. But I guess it was in another location?
Re: That Large Window High Above The Door…………..
there wasn't an apartment or a room up there. the ceiling slants upwards towards each other like an attic roof, but there is no attic. we have talked about how the window on the outside of the church doesn't match the inside of the church. we don't see the sunlight through that window when people enter the church.
miss beadle had that nice house that Laura and Almanzo had before it burnt down. I always thought the first house kind of came with the job since miss beadle had it first, then miss wilder and almanzo had it afterwards. strikingly nice compared to what teachers were 'worth' in reality back then [some teachers had to live with students on a rotating basis].
Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

For some reason, I always thought Miss Beadle had a room over the post office, like Doc Baker did.

She didThe big house belonged to Lars Hansen and was willed to the town and donated to the blind school.I think
Re: That Large Window High Above The Door…………..
Nooo
when she had the sprained ankle in SCHOOL MOM, mrs Ingalls goes to visit her to see how she is doing and get some insight on Abel. Check out that pad!
she is sitting in this very expensive padded chair complete with lace doily and mrs ingalls is pouring tea using a china tea set! when the camera pans back when mrs ingalls sits down, you see that white kerosene lamp. the base is white as well as the top. The chair Ma is sitting in is very ornate and pretty, door or chest of some sort behind Ma is of very dark wood.
taking a look at the room they are in right now, I don't see a bed. Doc Baker's room was very simple, a bed, a chest of drawers, a closet, a washbasin. no way does Miss Beadle live in a room like his with all her stuff AND a bed!

Re: That Large Window High Above The Door…………..
Yeah - Ms. Beadle lives above the post office. She just has decked out her room nicer than Doc Baker has. It's clear that she only has one room from when Caroline goes to visit her.
Re: That Large Window High Above The Door…………..
At first you would think Doc Baker would be the richest person in town and able to afford a house.
But then you think of the Olsons and their price gouging, and they would be the richest.

That was the belfry, where the bell was rung.
