Doctor Who : Sad that much of Capaldi's tenure was spent with Next Doctor questions

See, now's the time for it as we have nearly a year before the regeneration (probably about six months before the casting). That's already a quarter of Capaldi's tenure, a third of his series, to speculate. That's fine. What's not cool is doing it before he even started filming his second series.

You got your wish. Happy now?

I wasn't a Capaldi fan. I stopped watching but caught a few eps on Amazon
I didn't realize he only did/will do 2 seasons total. I thought he did 3 seasons. 8,9, and 10 about to air in UK in April

He will do 3 seasons in total by the time he is finished.

Sure is. Been the same way with Craig's Bond. Never got much time to just enjoy these actors in the role.

That's nothing to do with Capaldi. It has to do with the writing that keeps building up those regenerations and making them into a spectacle.

In early interviews, Capaldi noted that he is unsure about how long he will continue to do Doctor Who, which prompted people to question every series finale to see if it is his last.

If they downplay this regeneration, the next Doctor won't have to answer those stupid questions.

Since Capaldi was announced in the role all I ever heard was people wondering either when he was leaving and who was going to play the next Doctor. Kind of tired of it to be honest. Can't believe the average viewer attention span is zero percent.

Why wouldn't it be? The writing is aimed at that demographic and every story is so condensed as to fit the simplicity of the new audience.

People just want to see another regeneration where the current Doctor go on a tirade about existential mumble-jumble and explode in an exciting, yet miraculous fashion. There is no subtlety or treating it in any rational manner.

This is similar to Hollywood, where the excitement of a movie is much greater than any real content, character portrayal, or narrative. Just things going 'boom.'
