Halloween III: Season of the Witch : What was the marketing for this movie like?

What was the marketing for this movie like?

Can anyone who was around in 1982 and following horror movies shed some light on how this movie was marketed to audiences?

It seems like a common complaint of people who saw it back in 1982 in theaters is that they were expecting Myers to show up at some point and he just never did. Is this a valid complaint or was it clear that this movie was not going to continue the Myer's storyline?

Re: What was the marketing for this movie like?

Most (if not all) fans were clueless! There was not the internet or sites like this to tell us otherwise. Saw it at the drive-in opening weekend and thought we were at the wrong screen. Big disappointment but surprised how good it really was.

Re: What was the marketing for this movie like?

It took a little bit for word to get out. I remember my brother going out to see it and he didn't know Mr Meyers was not in it. He came home and told me and I was in shock. I didn't know either.

I also think they should have marketed this movie more about Dr Challis's penis and how awesome and manly he was more than market it as a scary movie. That's where they messed up imo.
