Blame It on Rio : Original French version
Re: Original French version
I saw this on TV in the 80s I think and for a teenage boy it made quite an impression because of the amount of nudity! I have seen highlights since, so based on my memory and those I can give some indication.
The original was set in the south of France and so the toplessness was more natural. The lead girl had a fantastic body, but much leaner and less voluptuous than Michelle. I wouldn't say she's as pretty, but some may prefer her. This makes her look younger and therefore more of a problem. However, being French she is a lot more comfortable in the beach scenes and love scenes. The lead male isn't as charismatic and the whole film is more serious. That may be a translation problem, but it's not as much of a comedy.
I have to say, I prefer the remake and I rarely like remakes. The 1984 film is nicer to look at, very funny and a lot of fun. The trouble with the original is that it's sort of believable and leaves you feeling uncomfortable. The remake is much more of a silly fantasy and better for it.

By the way, Agnes Soral, who had the Michelle Johnson role, mad her acting debut as well.
