The Golden Girls : The worst episode of the series
Re: The worst episode of the series
For me, it would either be "The Days and Nights of Sophia Petrillo" (unwatchable) or the Bob Hope episode (absurd).
Re: The worst episode of the series
I have to admit though, at the beginning of the Bob Hope episode when that big guy was singing Puff the Magic Dragon, the look on their faces was hilarious. Especially Dorothy.
Re: The worst episode of the series
The Heart Attack and The End of the Curse
Re: The worst episode of the series
Mr. Terrific.
What a loser.
What a loser.
Re: The worst episode of the series
I hated:
Blanche's Little Girl- (so over the top, even for a sitcom)
High Anxiety-(again, so over the top & full of drug treatment inaccuracies & vicious judgements)
You Gotta Have Hope- (as another person commented, it was an absurd episode. And Bob Hope was about as wooden and amusing as tree bark.)
72 Hours- It seemed like whenever an episode focuses too heavily on Rose, it gets more draggy & wildly overwrought than a soap opera.
Little Sister- The way the Girls idiotically refuse to believe Rose about her evil sister makes this one unwatchable.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Re: The worst episode of the series
Excepting Empty Nests, it might have to be the Grab That Dough episode. Some interesting lines, but they spent a fortune on last minute airline tickets to go to what was obviously a cheesy gameshow where it was unlikely they'd win much money?
Re: The worst episode of the series
Good call on the 'Dough' episode.
Not to mention the huge 'unlikelies' we saw, such as there are NO free hotel rooms in the entire city?!
Who's visiting the city, Jesus Christ Himself?!
What game show tapes live?
How could none of the Girls hear or feel their purses being stolen?
And these are not teenagers visiting 'the Big City' for the first time.
Most people would know to sleep with their purses tucked away or locked in the hotel safe.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.

What game show tapes live?
I don't think it taped live. Game shows like Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune tape a week's show in one day (two in the morning, lunch break, then three in the afternoon) and leave room for commercials, like the host saying "We'll be back after these messages."

Re: The worst episode of the series
I don't know the name of it, but never cared for the Blanche and her granddaughter in the talent show. I felt bad for the kid. Then Blanche embarrassed herself.
Plus, never cared for the Stan episodes.

Re: The worst episode of the series
That was beauty and the beast that actress who played her granddaughter was the winner of the voice back in may
Re: The worst episode of the series
dizkman-1, Stan wasn't in the "Beauty and the Beast" episode.
Burstynfan-1, her name is Alisan Porter, who, incidentally, I saw as 'Bebe' in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line ten years ago. Curly Sue is also a favorite holiday movie of mine.

Re: The worst episode of the series
The episode with Rita Moreno.
Re: The worst episode of the series
I SO agree! She overacts, the whole plot makes no sense (What, he's the only doctor in Miami?) and the Multiple personality character was so insensitive.

Re: The worst episode of the series
I won't say these are the absolute worst but i like these the least.i have the DVDs and these are the episodes i tend to skip when i watch it
Mary Had A Little Lamb - I hate this episode.Mary's boringher problems are boringand she's supposedly so "close" to the Girls yet we've never seen or heard of her not oncethe whole episode is forced and boring to meshe didn't have much chemistry with the Girls either imo
You've Gotta Have Hope - Ridiculous, even for Rose.
Not Another Monday - This is the one where Sophia's friend invites her to dinner to tell her that she wants to kill herself and that she wants Sophia to be there. Sounds like a hilarious episode, right? What a barrel of laughs! I don't mind the serious storylines sometimes but the woman who played her friend was creepy and so was the whole "i want you to be there when i kill myself" stuff. "I refuse to take no for an answer Sophia, if you love me you'll be there!" Then Dorothy, who usually doesn't even want Sophia to go out and have an ice cream cone with other old people, is suddenly like "well, Ma, it's up to you if you want to watch her commit suicide, it's your choice"
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Part 1 and 2- Ughi understand that Susan Harris wanted to cover this topic in an episode, I get it, but ONE part would have been more than enough. It was drawn out way longer than it needed to be, not to mention, Dorothy just randomly happening to see the same dismissive, rude doctor she just saw in New York at some restaurant in Miami, yeah it could happen but come on!
72 Hours- This is the episode where Rose isn't sure if she has AIDS or not. Just not one of my favorites.
Honorable mention: Days and Nights of Sophia Petrillo and Bringing Up Baby

Re: The worst episode of the series
I can't recall the episode names, but the "Grab That Dough" episode was one, although Jim McKrell was good being he was one a game show host himself.
And the episode where Dorothy's son Michael married Lorraine, a black woman whose family was a bunch of bigots.
