Ulli Lommel : Black Dahlia

Black Dahlia

Ulli Lommel is having his new movie BLACK DAHLIA come out this Tuesday at rental stores. I wonder why it's not listed on here. The only reason I know this is because I work at a video store. I can't wait to watch another hunk of crap by this guy. It will be my 4th movie of his. It still says "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF BOOGEYMAN". haha. He's still trying to mislead everybody and have them think he directed the BOOGEYMAN that came out a couple years ago, when he all he did was direct a movie called BOOGEYMAN in the 80s. haha.

Re: Black Dahlia

It's too bad too, because the movie "Black Dahlia Movie" will probably get a bad rep with people thinking it's Lommel's movie. Really too bad, because I'm betting it will be better than these other exploitation films like De Palma's and especially Lommel. Does it come out in all rental stores on tuesday?

Re: Black Dahlia

It comes out at blockbuster. You know what's funny? Since it's relase I've had many people (all different ages..older ladies even) bring it up thinking that it's the new Black Dahlia movie. Luckily, I remind them this is not the one they are thinking of. It would have already rented many times if it wasn't for me informing the customers that it is not the movie they think they are getting. I bet Ulli wants me dead.

Re: Black Dahlia

That is very true actually! When Green River Killer came out, people would come back saying it's the worst movie they have seen in their life and wanted a refund. Normally, we don't give refunds just because a movie sucked, but I understood and gave them a credit.

I work at Blockbuster too and i thank God i dont have to pay for my rentals coz i wouldn't pay for any of his *beep* River Killer was the 1st i watched and a few customers have come to the counter to rent it and im like I seriously advise against wasting your hard earned dollars on that junk! I think i watch his stuff just for a laugh. No one who had actually rented it has said a word regarding how bad it is which i find a shock coz i know i'd be demanding a refund/credit!!!! I keep wondering what he is actually doing right to be able to keep making these "movies". I actually found his movie "Boogeyman" watchable, i just dont know what wrong.

Re: Black Dahlia

I'd believe that. He obvoiusly doesn't make money off his movies, beacuse I've never met anybody who demands this stuff. Yet, he still makes lots of them. He or somebody close to him has to be wealthy.

Re: Black Dahlia

The movie Boogeyman that came out a few years ago..that's not done by this guy. I know he puts it on all his boxes, but he didn't direct that one. He directed a less-seen movie called Boogeyman in the 80s..so he tries to mislead people.

Re: Black Dahlia

Yeah when i first saw "from the director of the Boogeyman" on the cover of his movies i did assume it was the recent one but then i watched one of them and was like er..no this is definetely not right! The one he did make wasn't half bad, i actually picked up a vhs copy of it for amount $2(Australian)!!This was before i knew who Ulli was. He should have stopped with that movie i think!I guess if you have a billionaire wife(who if im not mistaken was the star of Boogeyman??) you can make whatever you want!Im sure she pulls strings somewhere!

Re: Black Dahlia

The movie isn't even listed on imdb. I just filled out a submission to put it up since it's causing so much confusion with both the big budget Brian De Palma film and the mid-budget Ramzi Abed film. So weird that in the one year, three different films with basically the same title come out in the public eye. I haven't seen Ulli's film yet, but it sounds pretty bad. I guess I may have to rent to see for myself?

Re: Black Dahlia

actually, it's not true. the studios do what is called "revenue sharing" with video stores, so they make money off of the rentals. the video chains do not usually pay cash for the discs, just a percentage of the rental revenue.

Re: Black Dahlia

I just rented it from Movie Gallery, and I quit it after they cut up the second girl. That movie sucked. And I mean sucked. I watched some bad, cheap movies (like house of blood, which I actually watched all the way through) I took it back to the store and got a credit on my account. This guy really has turned me off. First thing I do now is look for his name on the box. I thought that I should have told them they have to pay me for my wasted time.
