The Fly II : Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

..he looks so pathetic, I almost pity him. Almost.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

LOL! I almost pitied him myself. Pretty dire looking. I absolutely pitied the dog. In fact I almost had a tear :(

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

I almost cried at the Dog scene too, I had 2 dogs that died, and now I have 2 other ones and I can't bear to see a dog look like that, even in a film. I pitted Bartok b/c he was crawling on 2 hands to get his food, cruel but almost.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

I didn't pity him. In fact, I laughed and cheered. He really deserved that! So much..

Of course it's still a freaky scene to watch. But I'm glad he became the victim of his own cruelty. Serves him right.

I carry your heart; I carry it in my heart.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

Another vote for "almost" pitied him, but ended up happy/pleased at what happened to him - which is sick, I realize - but I still feel he had it coming.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

He looked like a malevolent turd.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

I don't pity him, that idiot could've been on a beach somewhere sippin Pina Coladas with some half naked hottie after him for his bucks...but noooo, he just had to try to control the form and function of life on earth. Big Dummy!

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

He was a pretty cold-hearted man, but he didn't deserve that. I've seen films where men much worse get away with far less.
I don't mean to impose, but I am the Ocean.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

After what he did to that beautiful Golden Retriever fck him.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

Nobody deserves that fate no matter what they've done. There's a big difference between killing someone who poses a threat, or even simply killing them out of revenge as morally questionable as that might still be, and torturing them and making them suffer in perpetuity. I wouldn't even wish that type of fate on Hitler or a child rapist. I'd rather simply see such scumbags killed off quickly and cleanly and put out of their misery and ours.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Bartok showed no such mercy toward that dog, he left him to fester in a pit in perpetual pain, feeding him slop...his fate fit the crime.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

It was disgusting what Bartok did to that dog, which is precisely why I wouldn't wish to see anyone go through the same thing. Also, and speaking as a vegetarian who feels very passionately about animal welfare (I was apoplectic when I recently read about a woman who put her cat in a microwave for a minute as 'punishment'), I do find what happened to Bartok more disturbing because he's a human-being. One sadly see animals in that kind of misery and pain quite often but to see a human-being reduced to such a pathetic state was particularly disturbing, not that any animal deserves that.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

I actually did pity Bartok at the end. He was not a pleasant man, but he did treat Martin somewhat well throughout his youth. The humanity in me rejects the notion of eye for an eye and vengeance. It pains me to see someone or something suffer. That's my weakness.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

Yeah.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

Yeah the ending to this movie really stuck with me, I saw it when I was about 12 on late night tv.
True what happens to the dog is terrible but Bartok is on another level. I imagine the process affected his brain otherwise imagine being in that state, thinking, feeling, being in pain probably the whole time. On top of it your colleagues just leave you like that. What if he had a partner, children, his parents, his friends are they just told he's dead or do they get to see him? That's not even mentioning how supremely illegal keeping him like that would be.
So yeah no cheering for me, just a cold chill whenever I think of it.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

If we think about it objective, what was Bartok Ind. did?

They had a scientist making a teleporter machine, whihc infact could change the world. It was a quantum leap breakthrough...

Then they had a genetically mutated little man, the first cross between human and insect, the first humanoid with the genes of another species.

What should they have to do? Kill him? Why? What Bartok's sin was? Killing Martin's dog? Come on, grow up... They were scientists, they had to investigate all mutated animals and whatever came out the telepods.

Bartok gave everything what Martin needed. They sure would have tell him, what the show was about, but Martin ran away and saw the video about his father.

If Martin didn't ran away, the Bartok team must have been tell about his condition, and Martin could have discussed what he found out about the teleporters. He then show them the gene swapping program, and somehow they could have save him AND then bartok could rule all life forms on Earth this way too.

If Martin in the video room -instead running away- tell Bartok, that he found a cure, and go and lets see that, all could have been solved within a few hours / days.

By the way, Martin had to show the functioning telepods after the cat teleportation. It was a huge breakthrough, why he didn't show to bartok? Or why the scientific team didn't check out Martin every 2-3 days how he works or what he achieved? There were many good opportunity in this film but there's a ton of BAD WRITING too.

Sorry for my english.

Re: Anytime I see the mutated Bartok……

I pitied him. He was just a businessman and seemingly didn't understand how his actions were hurting Martin, but he did seem to show that he cared about Martin in stone ways as a father figure, even if misguided.

I think due to his age, I think people learn to dismiss feelings at some point, people forgive the bad others have done, even if they don't forget. I think Bartok was relying on the fact that he WAS the father figure and Martin would forgive his dad.
