Re: the most asked about movie?

Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (I'm not kidding.)

Re: the most asked about movie?

It's close between Frog Dreaming (1986) and Fortress (1985).

Thanks.

Re: the most asked about movie?

Frog Dreaming is one that I had never even heard of before seeing it asked about so much on this board. I was 19 in 1986 and knew Henry Thomas from E.T. & Cloak and Dagger, but had never seen or heard of Frog Dreaming by this title or any of its various titles (The Quest / GO Kids).

This is another thing I will miss about the boards. I have gotten so many movie/tv show suggestions from questions others have asked about, but I had never heard of before.

Another much asked about movie that I remembered from my childhood, but never knew the name of, was answered here because so many others had the same memories as me and asked about it. It is Crowhaven Farm (1970). The movie where a woman has a door laid on top of her and then is crushed with stones that are laid on top of the door.

I must have seen this when it was re-aired sometime in the mid-70s because I would only have been 3 1/2 when it first aired. I doubt I would have remembered, or even have been awake, to see this movie when it first aired in late 1970.

I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.

star-core for tv-episodes these two get asked about a lot…

Re: the most asked about movie?

We don't see them much anymore, but there used to be a lot of threads started looking for Sole Survivor (1970).

Bad Ronald (1974) is another one.

'Sup rycki! What do you think of this board closure atrocity?

Sole Survivor (1970) has become legendary on this board, as well as TV movies like Bad Ronald (1974), Where Have All the People Gone (1974) and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973). Though they seem to have petered out in recent years. The Gate (1987) must be up there with the most asked for.

Re: the most asked about movie?

Don't want to butt in star core but The Gate and Fortress where some of my favorite movie growing up.

Re: the most asked about movie?

No reason why you can't butt in anytime. I remember watching Fortress on TV when I was a kid, I got the DVD and re-watched after it kept coming up on this board. I never watched The Gate as a kid, can't remember that playing on TV at all in the UK.

Re: the most asked about movie?

I also used to watch Fortress on HBO a lot when it first came out. I'd sometimes watch it a couple times a week. I'm 4 years older than you so I was in my late teens when it was first shown on HBO, but I still loved watching it.

Another I thought of that I watched all the time on HBO as a kid was Over the Edge (1979). It used to get asked about quite a bit, too.

I'd watch that one over and over again after school in the afternoons on HBO. Then after HBO stopped airing it I went 20 years without seeing it, but never forgot about it. Then in the mid 2000 I finally got it on DVD. I still love it.

Re: the most asked about movie?

Over the Edge is a board legend too. I can't remember that ever showing on British TV at any time. Maybe it has at some point but never a regular fixture.

Re: the most asked about movie?

Hey Star-Core !

What do you think of this board closure atrocity?

I think it's stupid. I come here daily, as do many other like yourself, to post on the boards and talk about movies and TV. It was the boards that kept me coming to IMDb several times daily, not the Movie plots / descriptions, trivia, cast lists, etc. Those are things I'd sometimes use, but not something that I would come to the site everyday to see.

I've been registered here 16 1/2 years and have been a regular poster on the I Need to Know board and many other boards since 2004. Before 2004 I posted occasionally, but then I discovered the I Need to Know board and I was hooked.

I know you first registered in 2006, so I don't know if you remember the "It doesn't do anything, that's the beauty of it" thread that was started in 2004. That thread is what got me hooked on the I Need to Know board. My initial guess was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. When that was proven wrong I kept coming back to the thread to see the new guesses and I started getting into answering other questions on different threads. It's addicting.

I also like to get on the individual TV and movie boards after seeing an episode of a TV series or watching a movie and discussing them. There are many old TV series and movies that have active boards still because of them being out on DVD or in syndication and people still want to talk about them.

I'm not going to delete my IMDb account because I hope they see their error and bring the message boards back someday, but until then I won't be using IMDb.

Re: the most asked about movie?

For some reason I wasn't overly interested with this site when I first discovered it. I was reading the "Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner" book, and started reading the trivia section and message board for the film, it must have been a year or two later when I actually created an account.

I don't think I was here for the original thread of the "It doesn't do anything" thread, but I saw it being referenced a lot. I wasn't even online in 2000. It's ridiculous to close the boards like this. The staff have become estranged from it's members, for some reason the boards give this site it's personality, it can never be the same when they are gone. We all still need to find a board to move to, though I could see this putting me off the internet altogether. Could be time to hang up my whip and fedora (Mouse and laptop), and find something else to do. The end is nigh!

Re: the most asked about movie?

I'd second Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (1989) but Holes (2003) came up more than you would think

*and Dolls (1987)

Re: the most asked about movie?

Maybe Holes because I asked my self

Re: the most asked about movie?

I used IMDb when I first registered to locate a couple movies from my childhood: The Bermuda Depths (1978) and A Cry in the Wilderness (1974). They have been asked about by others on this board.

I think I've located most movies I've been looking for. I have 2-3 tough ones I've never identified. I guess I better post them.

Re: the most asked about movie?

The Land Before Time franchise.

Re: the most asked about movie?

Personally four movies have stood out for me. I think they have an obscure factor that relates to limited release/known actors/decent films.

Screamers (1995)
Band of the Hand (1996)
Fortress (1992)
No Escape (1994)

Over time I have introduced many people to IMDB through these films. Sad that that option to explore a fascinating web site for the first time is no longer available to others.

Here's a rare one that usually I'm the ONLY one to solve…
