Seriously? Are you even trying? They look NOTHING alike! Do you even know what any of them looks like? Also Marvin Hamlisch IS extremely famous and is Burt Bacharach.

Just so you know I do like you and enjoy reading your replies to others. But c'mon, how can you actually think there's any resemblance between Alan and either of the other two?

It's funny, you're usually the one who attempts to solve an INTK query by hijacking the thread with your numerous lamebrained suggestions, most of which have little to do with the original question.

Well, I could go into a lengthy explanation but I don't have time, so I'll just say sorry, man. Hopefully someone will solve it for youand perhaps the great vocoder mystery too. It's possible.

Thanks! That or I'll come across another album of his when going to Goodwill looking for vinyls. Next time I'll take a pic of the cover with his name on it.

Re: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
What decade is he most popular?
Re: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
Don't know, but I'd guess sometime during the 50s, 60s or 70s. Definitely before the 80s. Could be the 40s, but I doubt as far back as the thirties. I remember that the cover was white and he was sitting near a piano with his face turned towards the cover looking out at whoever was holding the album. Don't recall IF it was an actual photograph or a really good artist's rendering done with a sketch pencil (I think it was the latter). But the guy was a dead-ringer for Alan Oppenheimer including the moustache. It was back in the vinyl days.

Skitch Henderson? This is an old photo, before his hairline began to recede. Usually he had a mustache with a goatee. http://www.historyforsale.com/productimages/thumbnails/205429.jpg
Here's a picture of him at a later age:

Solved: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
Re: Solved: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
So, who was it?

Re: Solved: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
Turns-out that the actual guy doesn't really look like Alan Oppenheimer much at all. That was just an artist's (bad) rendering on the cover of one of his LP's. Why the artist's rendering looks more like AO than the actual musician??

Re: Solved: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
LOL! I think the main difference is the hair. For some reason, the illustrator of that album cover replaced Mauriat's typical French 60s/70s "languish" haircut with what seems to be an attempt at "Mozart hairstyle", hahaha! And if Oppenheimer weren't bald, I think he and Mauriat would look alike close enough to pass as brothers (especially due to the moustache).
Anyway, thanks for letting us know the answer. I had heard of Paul Mauriat's name but I don't know his music, nor what he looked like.

Re: Solved: Composer, pianist and/or bandleader…
You're welcome! Yes, when I first saw the album at Goodwill I thought immediately of Alan Oppenheimer. I didn't buy it at the time and forgot the artist's name. I went back and couldn't find it. Then I went back to give it another try (maybe I didn't look hard enough) . I was hoping it wasn't sold, or at least there was another copy. Luckily, I found it again and this time I bought it. Still haven't listen to it even though I do have a record-player. It's an Ion brand which can hook into my computer and import to iTunes. I do think he's less famous (less well-known) than all the others mentioned in this thread.
