Backdraft : 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

That line just cracks me up. Don't get me wrong I love this movie, but that line is so 'action' and clichéd in a way, and I just can't help it! Its now become a private joke in my family.Every time I watch it, when it nears the end, I sit and wait for that line.

I is very good at mathimaticals and engliz speakings.

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

I'm sure it was effective back in the early nineties, but now? Hahahah, so schmaltzy.

I think there's been a rape up there!

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

I'm pretty sure it had the same effectiveness in the 90s as it does now. It's perfectly in keeping with the butch, macho, homo-erotic camp tone of the rest of the film. And it is hilariously brilliant.

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

You think there was a "homoerotic" feel to the movie Backdraft?

I got news for 'em. There's gonna be hell to pay. 'Cause I ain't Daddy's little boy no more.

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

Yanno JQ: I was thinking the same thing...homo erotic?

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

Aww come on!! Backdraft is right up there with TopGun for homoerotic subtext.

Next you'll be telling us that KickBoxer doesnt have a slightly gay feel to it!

Even if I wer part of this, even if I wer not a stranger,I wud be just another ant servin the shapes

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

you can always count on at least one dumb line in ron howards movies. The one you mention is the one i always remember too.

at least its not as bad as the howler in Apollo 13.

"If they can make a washing machine fly, my jimmy can land it"

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

"That's my Jimmy, goddamn it!"

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

I also love

pained and aching in his soul, "let me go, bull!"
and bull fiercely responds, "you go... we go"

:)

Each time history repeats itself, the price goes up

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

Michael Bay must have studied this movie.

My favourite part is the training montage where William Baldwin dumps the helmet full of water on himself in slo-mo. Classic!

It was cheesy, but I still liked it.

Re: 'Thats my brother goddamn it!'

That line has stuck with me since I first saw this movie in the cinema.

Then cut to Baldwin squirting his hose allover the place.
