Lilyan Chauvin : Good actress…

I really enjoyed Silent Night, Deadly Night - Pumpkinhead 2 - and of course; PHANTASMAGORIA!!!

Yes Mrs. Chauvin is a very good character actress, but such a shame she gets little recongization from the work she does in films. She's been active since the 1950's, and I remember her uncredited appearance in North to Alaska with John Wayne. Like many people, I know her from Silent Night Deadly Night, because she gives such a memorable role as the evil Mother Superior. I think she played Leonardo DiCaprio's mother in Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can.

I agree. Lilyan Chauvin is a terrific character actress. She was especially excellent as the stern and hateful Mother Superior in "Silent Night, Deadly Night." She was likewise fine in both "Predator 2" and "Pumpinhead II: Blood Wings." Moreover, I'm happy to see that she's still acting in her early 80's.

I've only seen her in Silent Night, Deadly Night, and I was very impressed - her character is over the top, but there's something understated about the way she delivers it. It's a compelling, credible performance, and she lends a little touch of class to the film

In general, skilled veteran actresses in exploitation films are always a blast - it's so much fun to see them let their hair down!
