Malik Bendjelloul : Suicide
Re: Suicide
I think it's really sad that people have to resort to this. No one should live their life in pain (especially the horrible, inescapable agony of clinical depression) but I don't think they should have to kill themselves either, especially in this day and age.
I wonder where his friends and family were to help him.

Re: Suicide
I know. I make no judgement on people taking this drastic final step but I'm not a fan of surrendering forever. As you say Degree7, there are people around to help. It's not like it's a hidden scourge like it used to be, though there is still a sense of shame. RIP Malik and thank you
Re: Suicide
I strongly urge you to seek help for it. You probably have tried already. There is plenty of different help available to find, especially in this internet age. Try and find like-minded people who5b4 are struggling and/or those who have been there and rose above it. The problem is when you neck yourself, you make depression someone else's problem as well.
Re: Suicide
The problem is: it comes to a point when you become a burden to your family and friends. Nobody wants to live with a depressed person. That's the real truth. Everybody is all about seeking for happiness, and God, and power of will and all this *beep* Sometimes, killing yourself is just a relieve for those around you. DEPRESSED PEOPLE ARE NOT WELCOME IN THIS WORLD!
Re: Suicide
We are though. It's not the place we want to have, but we still have a place in the world. You're welcome here with me anyway.
Re: Suicide
I've been through hell too mate. Standing on a bridge looking at cars driving under and for a split second thinking 'what if?'.
And then I thought about my family and how they would feel if I did something like that.
You don't know wether he sought help from his family, and this isn't directed to you OP, it's just the way my phone lets me reply.
He probably did seek help, because help is there, you just need to pick up the phone, or use a computer, I've been through depression, and it feels like there is no way out, but there is.
It doesn't take 'cojones', what he did was a selfish act, and has probably scarred his family for life.
If you OP, ever think thoughts like that again, think of your family and friends, and imagine how hurt, sad and confused they would be.
Anyway RIP

Re: Suicide
I was in Stockholm on Friday. As I left my hotel, a woman jumped off a high bridge in front of me and killed herself. Other witnesses said it happens all the time from that bridge as 7ecwell as vsterbron bridge. I live in Finland & sadly suicide is very very common here as well as Sweden. Some blame it on dark winters,I blame it on the fact that in these cultures, people simply don't talk about their problems. They keep it inside. For example, I'm still traumatised about witnessing that bridge suicide. When I tried to talk to people about it, all I got was "why do you care? It's not like you knew the woman" Empathy is an issue in Scandanavia that's one of the reasons that Finns are nicknamed the stiff Finns. Saying that though, there are still many people who don't fit into this group. RIP to this man and the woman who jumped off that bridge in the same city just 3 days after
Re: Suicide
