The fact is this director is indeed a hack and doesn't deserve the position he is in.

He only directed Lost pilot part 1 and part 2 !!! He was the writer behind Lost and he's one of the best writer in the business, he have a very creative mind!

I swear it's obvious, this smug *beep* thinks he's already better than Spielberg all the while brown nosing. My hypothesis is that he is a sick *beep* who is trying to get his hands on and intellectual property with a well established and passionate fanbase and completely *beep* it up. I bet he gets off on it.

Film and television is a business and Mr Abrams makes them a lot of profit. This results in him being offered more opportunities and gain a higher profile from this success. It's as easy as that!

JJ as a director isn't bad. Aside from the lens flares, I have no problems with his direction. It's the scripts that he gets from his personal team of hack writers coupled with his utter disregard for existing IP's that piss me off.


His Star Trek movies could have been amazing. The cast was good and they looked great, but they put in so much stuff that was just pants-on-head retarded I expected more of that in his Star Wars and the trailer only strengthened that fear.

Such a shame he has been handed two of the most beloved franchises in Sci-fi history.

His parents were TV producers. So you can see how Abrams was handed his career on a silver platter as opposed to someone like James Cameron who rose up from dirt on the sheer force of his will and was only promoted after he proved his talent and made hits out of no-name movies on shoestring budgets.

Everything Abrams wrote in the '90s before he directed was blasted by the critics. He had no talent yet kept getting work for some reason. He seems to know the right people and kiss the right asses all the way along. We can only blame Kathleen Kennedy for completely misidentifying Star Wars as a "science fiction" movie and thinking she needed the director of Star Trek to do it. The ineptitude on the part of the people in charge of Star Wars now is mind-numbing. People are going to sorely miss everything George Lucas brought to the table when this Abrams turd releases.
